  • The surging Dallas Stars clash with the LA Kings on Wednesday Night Hockey
  • Dallas has won six of the last seven meetings with the Kings
  • Read below for our Stars vs Kings prediction for Wednesday, along with odds and starting goalies

  • The Dallas Stars are aiming for their fifth win in a row against the LA Kings as they hit the West Coast for a late-night game on Wednesday (December 4). This Western Conference matchup will take place at Crypto.com Arena, with the puck dropping at 10:00 PM Eastern Time. You can catch all the action on TNT.

The oddsmakers have installed the Stars as slight road favorites at -115, while the total sits at 5.5 goals. Can Dallas continue their recent success against Los Angeles and maintain their momentum in the Western Conference playoff race?

Here is our Stars vs Kings prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

Stars vs Kings Prediction & Best Bet

I love the Stars on the moneyline in this Western Conference tilt. Dallas has been flat-out dominant lately, going 8-3 in their last 11 games. Dalas’ recent impressive stretch includes an impressive 11-3 mark against Western Conference opponents in their last 14 contests.

More importantly, the Stars have had the Kings’ number recently, winning six of the last seven meetings dating back to 2019, including four straight victories.

The Stars’ offense has been clicking on all cylinders this season, sitting 9th in the NHL at 3.38 goals per game. The dynamic duo of Matt Duchene (28 points) and Mason Marchment (24 points) has been leading the charge, while Roope Hinzt (10 goals) continues to provide reliable secondary scoring.

The Kings counter with a balanced attack led by Anze Kopitar (29 points) and Adrian Kempe (24 points), but their 16th-ranked offense (3.04 goals per game) might struggle to keep pace with the high-flying Stars.

Between the pipes, Dallas holds a clear advantage, with Jake Oettinger likely getting the start. The 23-year-old netminder has been stellar this season, ranking 7th in save percentage (.915) and 5th in GAA (2.38) among goalies with 10+ appearances. Los Angeles will likely counter with David Rittich, who owns a subpar .887 save percentage and 2.48 GAA.

The Stars have proven they can get it done on the road, going 4-2 in their last six away games. They’ve also had success keeping games low-scoring in LA recently, with the total going under in five straight visits to Crypto.com Arena.

Given their recent dominance in the head-to-head series, superior goaltending, and impressive play against Western Conference foes, I’m backing the Stars to secure a big road win in LA tonight.

The Stars are currently favored to win, with the moneyline set at -115. This means a $115 bet on Dallas would return a profit of $100 if they emerge victorious. The Kings are slight underdogs at -105.

Dallas is listed at -1.5 (+210) on the puck line, while Los Angeles is +1.5 (-300). A Stars puck line bet would require them to win by 2+ goals for a $210 profit on a $100 wager. The Kings puck line would cash if they win outright or lose by a single goal.

The game total is set at 5.5 goals, with the over slightly juiced at -125 and the under at +105. Oddsmakers expect a relatively low-scoring affair, which aligns with both teams’ defensive capabilities.

    Probable Starting Goalies

    Dallas Stars: Jake Oettinger

    • Career Games Played: 210
    • Career Goals Against Average (GAA): 2.49
    • Career Save Percentage (SV%): .913

    Los Angeles Kings: David Rittich

    • Career Games Played: 212
    • Career Goals Against Average (GAA): 2.96
    • Career Save Percentage (SV%): .905

Oettinger has the edge in both GAA and save percentage, as well as similar experience despite being seven years younger. The young Stars netminder gives Dallas a distinct advantage in goal for this late-night Western Conference tilt.

  • The Boston Bruins (13-11-3) head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Blackhawks (8-15-2) in a Wednesday Night showdown on December 4, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM Eastern Time at the United Center, with national coverage provided by TNT.

The Bruins enter as road favorites at -150, while the over/under is set at 5.5 goals. Can the B’s pick up two points against a struggling Hawks team?

Here is our Bruins vs Blackhawks prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Bruins vs Blackhawks Prediction

Give me the Under 5.5 goals in what should be a tight-checking Original Six battle. The Bruins boast a strong defensive structure, allowing just 3.04 goals per game (17th in the NHL). They’ve been particularly stingy against teams with poor offensive metrics, going 14-3 to the under when facing opponents averaging 3+ goals against this season.

David Pastrnak leads the Bruins’ attack with 24 points, while Brad Marchand (18 points) and Elias Lindholm (13 points) provide consistent support. However, the Bruins rank just 30th in scoring at 2.48 goals per game.

The Blackhawks counter with an anemic offense of their own, averaging a league-worst 2.44 goals per contest. Chicago has dropped three straight games, scoring a combined six goals in that span. Connor Bedard paces the Hawks with 19 points in his sophomore campaign.

Between the pipes, Jeremy Swayman is expected to start for Boston. He’s been rock-solid lately, posting a .929 save percentage and 1.78 GAA over his last four outings. Chicago will likely counter with Petr Mrazek, who owns a .908 save percentage and 2.79 GAA on the season.

The Bruins’ top defensive pairing of Charlie McAvoy and Nikita Zadorov, who have combined for 7.5 defensive point shares, should be able to contain Chicago’s limited firepower. Boston ranks 17th in goals allowed per game (3.04).

While the Bruins are playing the second leg of a back-to-back after an intense overtime win in Detroit on Tuesday, their solid defense and goaltending advantage give them the edge. However, I don’t see either team filling the net much in this one.

The first squad to light the lamp likely takes the two points, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a scoreless period or two. Bank on a low-scoring affair in Chicago.

Boston is listed at -1.5 (+165) on the puck line, while Chicago is +1.5 (-200). A Bruins puck line bet would require them to win by 2+ goals for a $165 profit on a $100 wager. The Hawks puck line would cash if they win or lose by a single goal.

Digging into the trends, the Bruins have won two straight as very heavy betting favorites in this rivalry, outscoring Chicago 6-1 in those contests. The under has cashed in three of the last five meetings overall.

While the Bruins are playing the second leg of a back-to-back after an intense OT win in Detroit on Tuesday, their commitment to team defense and structure should travel well. Chicago’s power play ranks 10th at 23.5% but will be tested against Boston’s 19th-ranked penalty kill (79.2%).

  • The Edmonton Oilers (13-9-2) roll into Sin City to battle the Vegas Golden Knights (15-7-3) in a Tuesday night showdown on December 3, 2024. The puck drops at 10:00 PM Eastern Time at T-Mobile Arena, with streaming coverage available on ESPN+ and Hulu.

The Oilers enter as slight road favorites at -135, while the over/under is set at a lofty 6.5 goals. Will Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl’s offensive firepower overwhelm the Golden Knights in Vegas tonight? Let’s break down the matchup and find out.

Here is our Oilers vs Golden Knights prediction for Tuesday’s Pacific Division clash.

    Oilers vs Golden Knights Prediction

I’m riding with the over 6.5 goals in what should be a high-octane, back-and-forth affair in Vegas. Both the Oilers and Golden Knights boast explosive offenses filled with superstar talent that can light the lamp in bunches. Vegas ranks 7th in goals per game (3.60), while Edmonton isn’t far behind at 17th (3.00).

The Oilers are led by the dynamic duo of Connor McDavid (12G, 19A) and Leon Draisaitl (17G, 15A), who sit 1st and 2nd in team scoring. When these two are clicking, Edmonton’s offense is nearly impossible to contain, as evidenced by their 14 goals over the last three games.

The Oilers’ power play is also due for positive regression, currently converting at just 17.7% (23rd) despite immense talent. It’s only a matter of time before they become of the NHL’s elite special teams units once again.

On the other side, the Golden Knights have a deep attack with Jack Eichel (8G, 28A) leading the way. Vegas’ power play has been lethal, ranking 5th at 27.4%. However, their penalty kill is suspect at 78.2% (21st), which the Oilers should exploit.

As mentioned in the starting goalies section further below, neither tendy in this game owns a commendable save percentage. With both teams capable of filling the net and neither goaltender instilling much confidence  – I’m expecting a shootout at T-Mobile Arena.

An alternate bet to consider is the “McDavid’s Magic in Vegas” Same Game Parlay at +474. McDavid has been on fire and relishes playing on the big stage. This could be a great way to spice up your betting slip.

    Tuesday Hockey Picks:

    • Over 6.5 Goals ( -105 at ESPN Bet )
    • “McDavid’s Magic in Vegas” Same Game Parlay ( +474 at ESPN Bet )
      • Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Goals
      • Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists
      • Oilers -1.5 Game Spread

    Oilers vs Golden Knights Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    EDM Oilers -1.5 (+170) -135 Over 6.5 (-105)
    VGK Golden Knights +1.5 (-215) +115 Under 6.5 (-115)

The Oilers are currently favored to win, with the moneyline set at -135. This means a $135 bet on Edmonton would return a profit of $100 if they triumph. The Golden Knights are +115 home underdogs, offering a potential return of $115 on a $100 wager.

Edmonton is listed at -1.5 (+170) on the puck line, while Vegas is +1.5 (-215). An Oilers puck line bet would require them to win by 2+ goals for a solid payout. The Golden Knights puck line bet would cash if they win outright or lose by a single tally.

The total for this contest is set at a healthy 6.5 goals, with the over at -105 and the under at -115. This elevated number indicates oddsmakers envision a barnburner between these high-powered offenses.

    Team Goalie Record GAA SV%
    Oilers Stuart Skinner 8-6-2 3.09 .887
    Golden Knights Adin Hill 10-4-2 2.85 .894

The likely goalie matchup will be Stuart Skinner (8-6-2, 3.09 GAA, .887 Sv%) for the Oilers against Adin Hill (10-4-2, 2.85 GAA, .894 Sv%) for the Golden Knights.

Neither netminder has dazzled this season, with both sporting save percentages under .900 and goals-against averages near 3.00. In a game featuring elite offensive talents like McDavid, Draisaitl, and Eichel, Skinner and Hill could be in for a long night between the pipes.

With suspect goaltending on both ends and no shortage of scoring punch, the recipe is there for a potential over bonanza in Vegas. At -105 odds, the over 6.5 goals is my best bet, but don’t forget about that “McDavid’s Magic” parlay for a potential bigger payout.

  • The Detroit Red Wings (10-11-3) head to Beantown to battle the Boston Bruins (12-11-3) in an Original Six showdown on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM Eastern Time at TD Garden, with streaming coverage available on ESPN+ and Hulu.

The Bruins enter as sizeable home favorites at -175, while the over/under is listed at 6 goals. Can the surging B’s continue their strong play under interim coach Joe Sacco and earn a key divisional win? Let’s take a closer look.

Here is our Red Wings vs Bruins prediction for Tuesday night.

    Red Wings vs Bruins Prediction

I’m backing the Bruins to get it done at home. Boston has won four of their last six overall and appears to be figuring things out after a rocky start cost coach Jim Montgomery his job. The B’s depth and experience gives them the edge in this matchup.

David Pastrnak paces the Bruins attack with nine goals, while veteran Brad Marchand has dished out nine assists. Charlie Coyle has also contributed with four goals in his last five home appearances.

While Boston ranks just 30th in scoring (2.46 goals per game), they draw a favorable matchup against a struggling Red Wings defense allowing 3.17 goals against on average. Detroit has particularly scuffled on the road, going just 2-4 in their last six away from Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings will also be without star winger Patrick Kane, who remains sidelined on IR with an undisclosed injury. His absence puts even more pressure on Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond to carry the offense.

Between the pipes, the Bruins hold the advantage. The tandem of Jeremy Swayman (.892 SV%, 3.09 GAA) and Joonas Korpisalo (.907 SV%, 2.45 GAA, 2 SO) has rounded into form lately, combining for a stingy 2.00 GAA and .918 SV% over the last five games.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings face major question marks in net with Ville Husso (.818 SV%, 4.90 GAA) struggling mightily. Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot are both unavailable due to injury.

On the backend, the Bruins’ top pair of Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm, who have combined for 6.3 defensive point shares, matches up well against Detroit’s top scorers like Larkin and Raymond. As a team, Boston ranks a respectable 17th in goals allowed (3.08 per game).

While the Red Wings have some dangerous offensive weapons and have played better lately, the Bruins are the pick here. Boston is deeper, has a rest advantage, and much better goaltending. They’ve also dominated this rivalry in Boston (16-3 past 19 meetings). Take the B’s on the 60-minute line.

    DET Red Wings +1.5 (-167) +245 Over 6 (-110)
    BOS Bruins -1.5 (+140) -175 Under 6 (-110)

The Bruins are solid -175 moneyline favorites, meaning a $175 bet would profit $100 if they win. The Red Wings are +245 underdogs – a $100 wager would return $245 if they pull the upset.

Boston is +140 to cover -1.5 goals, while Detroit is favored to stay within that margin at -167. Based on the juice, oddsmakers predict a close game that the Bruins win by 1-2 goals.

The total is set at 6 goals, with even -110 odds on both sides. With two bottom-10 offenses and some key injuries, bookmakers envision a lower-scoring, tight-checking affair. The rivals have actually trended towards the over, lately, however (7 of last 10 head-to-head have featured 6+ goals).

When favored recently, the Bruins are 3-0 against the Red Wings, winning in regulation each time. The over has hit in three of the last four meetings, with the lone under coming in the most recent meeting.

The Bruins are playing some of their best hockey of the season right now, winners of four of six since Sacco took over. The offense has come alive lately, too, scoring six goals in two of their last three outings. Don’t expect that to faze a surging Boston squad though.

Detroit has competed admirably and played .500 hockey over their last 10 games. They’ve overachieved a bit based on underlying metrics, however, as the Red Wings rank bottom-10 in expected goals for (xGF), high-danger chances for (HDCF), and scoring chances for (SCF) at 5v5. Without a full complement of goalies, those flaws could get exposed.

The Bruins enter as -170 home favorites, while the over/under is set at 5.5 goals. Can Boston continue its improved play under interim head coach Joe Sacco and take advantage of the Pens’ miserable defense?

Here is our Penguins vs Bruins prediction for Friday Night Hockey.

    Penguins vs Bruins Prediction

Despite Pittsburgh’s recent 5-4 win over Vancouver, I’m rolling with the Bruins to take care of business on home ice. Boston has looked rejuvenated under Sacco, winning three of four while allowing just six total goals. The B’s have locked things down defensively, limiting both shots and quality chances.

That newfound defensive structure should help contain Pittsburgh’s dynamic duo of Sidney Crosby (23 points) and Evgeni Malkin (21 points). The Pens just can’t keep pucks out of their net lately, sitting dead last in the NHL at 3.96 goals against per game. The road has been especially cruel, with 4+ goals allowed in eight of 11 games.

The Bruins have flat-out owned this matchup recently, taking five of six while lighting the lamp at least four times in all but one of those games. Their big guns found their groove in Wednesday’s 6-3 win over the Islanders – Pastrnak dished three assists while Marchand and Zacha each buried a pair. That doesn’t bode well for a shaky Pens defense.

Between the pipes, both Swayman and Korpisalo have looked sharper than Pittsburgh’s struggling tandem of Jarry (.868 SV%) and Nedeljkovic (.877 SV%). Swayman has earned Sacco’s trust and should get the nod in this favorable matchup.

At home against a floundering Penguins squad that is just 3-6-2 on the road, the Bruins are well-positioned to earn a win in regulation. And despite the lower 5.5 total, don’t be surprised if this turns into a higher-scoring game given the defensive issues on both sides. Take Boston on the moneyline and lean to the Over.

    Friday Hockey Picks:

    • Bruins ML (-170 at Bet365)
    • Over 5.5 Goals (-120)

    Penguins vs Bruins Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    PIT Penguins +1.5 (-170) +145 Over 5.5 (-120)
    BOS Bruins -1.5 (+145) -170 Under 5.5 (+100)

The Bruins are solid -170 home favorites on the moneyline. This means a $170 bet on Boston would return a profit of $100 if they win. The Penguins are +145 underdogs, offering a potential return of $145 on a $100 wager.

Boston is +145 to cover the -1.5 puck line, while Pittsburgh is -170 to stay within 1.5 goals. A Bruins puck line bet would cash if they win by 2+ goals, while the Penguins +1.5 would hit if they win outright or lose by only one.

The total has ticked down to 5.5 goals, with the Over now juiced to -120 and the Under at even money (+100). Given the defensive issues on both sides, there is still value in backing the Over 5.5 at the current price.

    PIT-BOS Head-to-Head History

The Bruins have had Pittsburgh’s number in recent meetings, winning five of the last six matchups dating back to 2022. During that span, the B’s have scored 4+ goals in five of those six contests.

Boston has also dominated the Pens at TD Garden, going 14-3 in its last 17 home games in this series. The Bruins’ speed, forechecking and offensive depth tends to give Pittsburgh fits, especially in the hostile confines of Beantown.

Expect emotions to run high with several rivalries and connections between these teams. Ex-Bruin Matt Grzelcyk makes his return to Boston for the first time since signing with Pittsburgh in the offseason. But the biggest spotlight will be on superstars Sidney Crosby and David Pastrnak as they try to ignite their struggling clubs.

While the Penguins got a much-needed win last game, don’t overreact to that result against a fragile Canucks squad. The Bruins are playing better hockey under their new bench boss and match up very well with Pittsburgh. Back the B’s to prevail on home ice in an entertaining affair that has a good shot of going Over the total.

  • Read below for Golden Knights vs Avalanche prediction and odds for tonight’s game on TNT

  • The Vegas Golden Knights (14-6-2) visit Denver to take on the Colorado Avalanche (12-10-0) in a Wednesday Night Hockey matchup on November 27, 2024. Puck drop is set for 10:00 PM Eastern Time at Ball Arena, with TNT handling the national broadcast.

The Avalanche enter as -170 favorites, which seems generous considering their recent goaltending struggles. The total sits at 6.5 goals. Can the Avs bounce back on home ice after getting blown out by the Lightning last time?

Here’s our Knights vs Avs prediction and analysis for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Golden Knights vs Avalanche Prediction

While the oddsmakers have Colorado heavily favored, the Golden Knights look primed for a road victory. Vegas is rolling right now, winning three straight and five of their last seven. They’re scoring consistently at 3.86 goals per game (4th in NHL), while getting strong performances from goaltenders Adin Hill and Ilya Samsonov.

The Knights’ offense has been impressive – Jack Eichel (34 points), Ivan Barbashev (24 points) and Mark Stone (21 points) should find opportunities against a Colorado defense that’s been struggling.

The numbers tell the story with the Avs’ goaltending situation. They’re allowing 3.77 goals per game (30th in NHL) with a league-worst .855 save percentage. Neither Georgiev (.871 SV%) nor Annunen (.872 SV%) has provided stability, making that -170 price difficult to justify.

MacKinnon and Rantanen remain elite threats, but the Avalanche are lacking secondary scoring. Beyond those two stars, only three other players have reached double-digit points this season. Vegas brings more balanced scoring throughout their lineup.

The timing works in Vegas’ favor – Colorado just finished a road trip where they fell 8-2 in Tampa. First games back from long trips often present challenges, especially against a Vegas team that’s proven capable on the road (6-4-2).

These teams met earlier this season, with Vegas claiming an 8-4 win. While this meeting should be closer, the Knights match up well. The road underdog offers solid value here in the Wednesday NHL odds.

    Wednesday Hockey Picks:

    • Golden Knights ML (+145 at ESPN Bet)
    • Over 6.5 Goals (-120)

    Golden Knights vs Avalanche Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    VGS Golden Knights +1.5 (-175) +145 Over 6.5 (-120)
    COL Avalanche -1.5 (+145) -170 Under 6.5 (Even)

The Avalanche are big favorites to win, with their moneyline sitting at -170. That means if you bet $170 on Colorado and they win, you’d make a $100 profit. But with their recent defensive and goaltending issues, that line feels a bit steep. On the other hand, the Golden Knights are interesting underdogs at +145, so a $100 bet on them could pay out $145 if they pull off the win.

If you’re looking at the puck line, Colorado is at -1.5 with odds of +145, meaning they need to win by two goals or more. Meanwhile, Vegas is at +1.5 but at -175, so they can either win outright or just lose by one goal for that bet to cash.

The total for the game is set at 6.5 goals, with the over leaning to -120 and the under at even money. This means the oddsmakers think it’ll be a high-scoring affair, which makes sense given both teams have explosive offenses and shaky defenses.

    VGK-COL Season Series History

The Golden Knights are up 1-0 in the season series after a wild 8-4 win against the Avalanche in Vegas on October 9th. But if you look at their history, these two teams have been pretty even.

In their last 10 matchups dating back to 2022, each team has snagged 5 wins. Plus, six of those games had 7 or more goals scored, so clearly, it can get high-scoring

The Knights will be looking to use their speed and depth, especially with the altitude in Denver, while the Avalanche are trying to clean up their defense after giving up 8 goals in Tampa. Expect a fast-paced, back-and-forth affair, with the underdog Knights offering excellent value to pull the upset.

  • The Nashville Predators (6-10-3) head to the Emerald City to take on the Seattle Kraken (9-9-1) in a Wednesday Night showdown on November 20, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 PM Eastern Time at Climate Pledge Arena, with national coverage provided by TNT.

The Predators enter as slight favorites at -140, while the over/under is set at a low 5.5 goals. Can the Preds’ new stars lead them to a road win against the Kraken tonight? Let’s dive into the matchup and find out.

Here is our Predators vs Kraken prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Predators vs Kraken Prediction

I’m riding with the Preds to get a road win against the Kraken. Nashville is a team on the rise, with new additions like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault starting to find their groove with the squad. The Preds are coming off an impressive 5-3 road win over the Canucks and will be hungry to end their road trip on a high note.

While Nashville’s overall record is lackluster at 6-10-3, their underlying metrics are trending in the right direction. The Preds have a strong power play clicking at 23.3% (10th in the NHL) and an elite penalty kill at 90.8% (1st). Nashville also boasts the 4th best face-off percentage in the league at 53.3%, giving them an edge in puck possession.

On the flip side, the Kraken have been inconsistent, going 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. Seattle ranks middle-of-the-pack in most statistical categories and has struggled with slow starts, leading after the 1st period in only 3 of 19 games. The Kraken are also coming off a deflating 2-0 loss to the Rangers.

Sharp money has taken notice of Nashville’s improvement, moving the line from -130 to -140 in their favor. I believe the Preds have revenge on their mind after a 7-3 blowout loss to Seattle earlier this season and will make a statement on the road.

Expect a hard-fought, lower-scoring affair, with Nashville rallying behind their new stars to grind out a win at Climate Pledge. The under 5.5 is also worth a smaller play for those who like to bet totals.

    Wednesday Hockey Picks:

    Predators vs Kraken Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    NSH Predators -1.5 (+175) -140 Under 5.5 (-110)
    SEA Kraken +1.5 (-225) +120 Over 5.5 (-110)

The Predators are currently favored to win, with the moneyline set at -140. This means a $140 bet on Nashville would return a profit of $100 if they triumph. The Kraken are +120 underdogs, offering a potential return of $120 on a $100 wager.

    https://twitter.com/PredsNHL/status/1858519004126277762

Nashville is listed at -1.5 (+175) on the puck line, while Seattle is +1.5 (-225). A Predators puck line bet would require them to win by 2+ goals for a solid payout. The Kraken puck line bet would cash if they win outright or lose by a single goal.

The total for this game is set at just 5.5 goals, with both the over and under at -110. This low number indicates oddsmakers expect a defensive battle between these teams.

    NSH-SEA H2H History

The Kraken and Preds have faced off 10 times total, with Seattle winning six of those contests. Interestingly, these two teams have alternated victories over their past six meetings, with each squad picking up three wins apiece. If this pattern holds true, Nashville would be due for a win tonight at Climate Pledge.

    Last 5 Head-to-Head Results

    Date Home Team Result O/U
    Oct 15, ’24 NSH SEA 7 – 3 O6.0
    Mar 17, ’24 SEA NSH 4 – 1 U5.5
    Nov 3, ’23 SEA SEA 4 – 2 P6.0
    Oct 13, ’23 NSH NSH 3 – 0 U6.0
    Mar 25, ’23 NSH SEA 7 – 2 O6.0

The over/under trends have been mixed in the last five matchups, with the total going over twice, under twice, and pushing once. The Predators will look to keep the win-alternating trend alive and get some payback for the 7-3 beatdown they suffered in the most recent meeting.

With Nashville playing better and possessing added motivation to even the season series, I believe they offer excellent value at -140 in this spot.

The oddsmakers have installed the Avalanche as modest -130 favorites, while the total sits at 6.5 goals. Can Nathan MacKinnon and company keep rolling at home against the Kings?

Here’s our Kings vs Avalanche prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Kings vs Avalanche Prediction

While the Kings have impressed early this season, I’m rolling with the Avalanche to get it done on home ice. Colorado has flat-out owned this matchup lately, winning seven of the last 10 meetings with L.A., including three of four at Ball Arena.

The Kings are missing a huge piece in Drew Doughty, who’s still sidelined with an ankle injury. His absence leaves a massive hole on LA’s blueline, especially when it comes to special teams duty.

    https://x.com/LAKingsPR/status/1839752885468328202

The Avs’ offense has been humming behind Nathan MacKinnon, who’s been on an absolute tear with 30 points (7 goals, 23 assists). Colorado is putting up 3.44 goals per game (10th in NHL) and their power play has been lethal, converting at a 33.3% clip (2nd). The Kings’ middle-of-the-pack penalty kill (79.4%) could be in trouble without Doughty against this high-powered unit.

While L.A. has been stingy defensively (2.88 goals against, 9th), the Avalanche have enough weapons to break through. The Kings are also playing their second road game in three nights, which isn’t ideal against a fresh Colorado team at altitude.

Sure, the Kings are leading the Pacific with 21 points, but the Avs have won three of four and are perfect in their last three at home. With MacKinnon and Makar doing their thing, expect Colorado’s dominance in this matchup to continue.

For total bettors, it’s telling that nine of Colorado’s last 10 home games have gone over. Look for both teams to light the lamp in what should be a back-and-forth affair, with the Avalanche’s special teams making the difference.

    Wednesday NHL Picks:

      • Best Bet: Avalanche ML (-130)
      • Lean: Over 6.5 Goals (-120)

    Kings vs Avalanche Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    LA Kings +1.5 (-225) +110 Over 6.5 (EVN)
    COL Avalanche -1.5 (+175) -130 Under 6.5 (-120)

The Avalanche are currently favored to win this matchup, with the moneyline set at -130. This means that a $130 bet on Colorado would return a profit of $100 if they come out on top. Conversely, the Kings are underdogs at +110, offering a potential return of $110 on a $100 wager.

For those interested in the puck line, Colorado is listed at -1.5 (+175), while Los Angeles is at +1.5 (-225). A bet on the Avalanche puck line would require them to win by two or more goals, but it would provide a higher payout. The Kings puck line bet would cash if they either win outright or lose by a single goal.

The total (over/under) for this game is set at 6.5 goals, with the over at even money and the under slightly juiced at -120. This means that oddsmakers believe there’s a relatively equal chance of the game seeing seven or more goals versus six or fewer.

    LA-COL Recent Results

The Avs have had the upper hand in recent meetings with the Kings, winning seven of the last 10 games between the two teams. Colorado has also been dominant at home against LA, securing victories in three of the past four matchups at Ball Arena.

  • It’s a playoff rematch on Saturday, November 9th as the Vancouver Canucks host the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 pm EST, and the game will be televised on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

The Canucks come into this contest riding a three-game winning streak, most recently sweeping their California road trip. The Oilers have lost two straight games, including a 4-2 defeat to the Golden Knights on Wednesday in Connor McDavid’s return from an ankle injury.

Edmonton is -115 road favorites on the moneyline, with Vancouver listed at -105. The total is set at 6.5 goals, with the Over juiced to -120 at most sportsbooks. The Oilers won last year’s playoff series 4-3 but Vancouver swept the regular season series.

    Oilers vs Canucks Odds

    Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+200) -115 Over 6.5 (+110)
    Vancouver Canucks +1.5 (-250) -105 Under 6.5 (-130)

The Canucks are home underdogs at -105 odds on Saturday night. This is in part because they will be without leading goal scorer Brock Boeser, who left Thursday’s 4-2 win over the Kings after taking a blindside hit to the head from Tanner Jeannot.

These rivals have yet to face off in the 2024-25 season. Both teams are hovering around .500, with the Oilers at 6-7-1 and the Canucks at 7-2-3. Vancouver won the season series 4-0 last year before Edmonton got playoff revenge.

    Oilers Betting Outlook

The Oilers returned home from a three-game road trip and promptly lost 4-2 to the Golden Knights on Wednesday. This was despite EDM getting McDavid back in the lineup after he missed three games with an ankle injury. It was their second straight defeat following a 3-0 shutout loss in New Jersey.

Edmonton’s usually lethal offense is averaging just 2.36 goals per game, while their penalty-killing unit ranks last in the NHL at 59.5%. Reigning playoff MVP Connor McDavid was held off the scoresheet in his return game. The perennial Hart Trophy odds contender leads the Oilers in scoring with 16 points in 14 games.

Stuart Skinner will likely get the start in goal for Edmonton. The 25-year-old is 3-5-1 with a 3.28 GAA and .885 save percentage in nine starts. He’s 1-4 with a 4.04 GAA in five career games against Vancouver.

The Oilers will again be without winger Evander Kane, who remains sidelined after a serious wrist injury that will keep him out for 3-4 months. Forward Mattias Janmark is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

    Vancouver Canucks Betting Outlook

Meanwhile, the Canucks are rolling with three straight wins to kick off November after a mediocre 4-2-3 October. Their California sweep was capped off by a 4-2 victory in Los Angeles on Thursday.

However, the win came at a cost, as leading goal scorer Brock Boeser left the game after taking a blindside hit to the head from Kings forward Tanner Jeannot. Boeser has six goals in 12 games, and the latest update is he will be out indefinitely.

Vancouver is already without starting goalie Thatcher Demko, who is out with a knee injury. Backup Kevin Lankinen has been superb in his absence, going 7-0-2 with a 2.08 GAA and .923 save percentage.

Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes continues to drive the Canucks’ offense from the blueline. He leads the team in points (14) and assists (11) while riding a three-game point streak. Hughes had a goal and assist in Thursday’s win over the Kings.

    Oilers vs Canucks Prediction

This Pacific Division clash pits two teams trending in opposite directions. The Oilers are still trying to find their footing after last year’s long playoff run, while the Canucks are starting to hit their stride after an uneven start.

Boeser’s potential absence looms large for a Vancouver team already missing some key pieces. But the Canucks have been finding ways to win lately, thanks to balanced scoring and outstanding goaltending from Lankinen.

Edmonton’s offensive talent can’t be contained for long, especially against a leaky Vancouver defense allowing over 30 shots per game. However, the Oilers’ struggling penalty kill is a major concern against a potent Canucks power play clicking at 18%.

Ultimately, this game has all the makings of a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair. Neither team has been playing lockdown defense, so the Over 6 goals at -115 odds on bet365 is the best value bet. Bet365 also has an enticing Super Boost with McDavid and Hughes each to record a point at +120 (usually -140).

    Oilers vs Canucks Best Bets:

    • Over 6 Goals (-115) at bet365
    • Connor McDavid 1+ Points & Quinn Hughes 1+ Points (+120) at bet365

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Washington Capitals on Friday night
  • We’ve made our Penguins vs Capitals prediction for Friday
  • Read below for Penguins vs Capitals prediction and odds

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins head to the Capital One Arena to take on the Washington Capitals on Friday, November 8th at 7:30 PM ET. This Metropolitan Division battle will be broadcast live from Washington, D.C. on ESPN+.

Oddsmakers have set the Capitals as -185 home favorites, with the Penguins priced at +155 underdogs for this matchup. The puck drops at 7:30 pm ET.

Here is our Penguins vs Capitals prediction, along with NHL odds to consider.

    Penguins vs Capitals Prediction

The Penguins and Capitals find themselves trending in opposite directions early in the 2024-25 season. Washington sits 3rd in the Metro with a 9-3-0 record, while Pittsburgh is 7th at 5-8-2. These rivals split their series last year, with the road team winning each game.

The Capitals have been led by their high-powered offense, averaging 4.08 goals per game (4th in NHL). Veterans Dylan Strome (4G, 15A) and Alex Ovechkin (8G, 8A) pace the attack, with youngsters like Connor McMichael (8G, 5A) and Aliaksei Protas (5G, 7A) also contributing.

Pittsburgh’s core of Sidney Crosby (6G, 9A) and Evgeni Malkin (4G, 12A) are still producing, but depth scoring has been an issue. The Pens are averaging just 2.80 goals per game (22nd). Defensively, they’ve struggled mightily, allowing 3.80 goals against per game (29th).

In net, the Capitals are expected to start Charlie Lindgren (3-3-0, 2.70 GAA, .896 SV%). For the Penguins, Joel Blomqvist (2-4-0, 3.47 GAA, .909 SV%) is the likely starter with Pittsburgh on the second half of a back-to-back.

I predict a 5-2 win for the Capitals in regulation. Washington has been dominant at home, going 7-1-0 at Capital One Arena. The well-rested Caps should feast on a tired Pens team playing their 2nd game in as many nights.

Washington’s explosive offense, led by a red-hot Ovechkin, will be too much for Pittsburgh’s porous defense and inconsistent goaltending to handle. The Pens also struggle to score on the road, averaging just 2.63 goals per game away from home (23rd).

The Capitals have a huge special teams advantage as well. Their power play ranks 1st at home (40.0%) while the Pens’ road PK sits 27th (73.3%). Look for Washington to strike with the man advantage.

While anything can happen in a rivalry game, the Capitals are simply the better team right now and matchup very well with Pittsburgh. Lay the -1.5 puck line and watch Washington roll at home.

    Friday Hockey Picks:

    • Capitals -1.5 Puck Line (+130 at ESPN)
    • Over 6.5 Goals (-110)

    Penguins vs Capitals Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    PIT Penguins +1.5 (-155) +155 Over 6.5 (-110)
    WSH Capitals -1.5 (+130) -185 Under 6.5 (-110)

The Washington Capitals are solid -185 favorites on the moneyline, implying a 64.9% win probability. The Penguins are +155 underdogs.

On the puck line, Washington is favored by 1.5 goals at +130 odds. Pittsburgh is a +1.5 goal underdog at -155.

The total is set at 6.5 goals, with both the over and under at -110. Considering Washington’s high-scoring offense and Pittsburgh’s defensive woes, the over is appealing here.

    Alex Ovechkin Player Props

Here are some notable Alex Ovechkin player props for Friday’s game:

    Prop Line Odds
    Goals Over 0.5 +115
    Goals To Score First +750
    Goals To Score Last +900
Shots on Goal Over 4.5 -130
Shots on Goal Over 5.5 +165
    Points Over 1.5 +135
    Points Over 2.5 +450

Ovechkin comes in red hot, scoring goals in 5 straight games. He has 8 goals on a whopping 40 shots this season, including 15 shots in his last 3 games. Ovi is also producing at over a point-per-game pace with 16 points in 12 games.

I like Ovechkin to score and go over his shot and point totals against a vulnerable Penguins defense allowing 3.80 goals against per game. Fire away on the Ovi overs.

  • The Detroit Red Wings (5-5-1) head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Blackhawks (5-7-1) in a Wednesday Night showdown on November 6, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM Eastern Time at the United Center, with national coverage provided by TNT.

The Red Wings enter as slight road favorites at -120, while the over/under is set at 6.5 goals. Can Detroit continue their recent success against Chicago and secure an important road win? Let’s take a closer look.

Here is our Red Wings vs Blackhawks prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Red Wings vs Blackhawks Prediction

I’m backing the Red Wings in this Original Six tilt. Detroit owns Chicago lately, taking four of their last five meetings. The Wings flat-out dominate this rivalry historically too, holding a 375-277-84-17 edge all-time.

Lucas Raymond paces the Wings’ attack with 11 points, while DeBrincat (9 points) and captain Larkin (8 points) chip in consistently. Watch for Patrick Kane to bring some extra juice against his old squad.

While the Red Wings have had some difficulty scoring consistently, averaging 2.63 goals per game (29th in the NHL), they have a great matchup against a Chicago defense allowing 3.15 goals per contest. The Blackhawks have particularly struggled on home ice, going just 1-3.

Not to mention, the Hawks are returning from a challenging five-game road trip on the West Coast. The fatigue from the road trip could be a factor, especially considering this is their first game back at the United Center.

On the other hand, the Red Wings haven’t played since Saturday, which means they should be well-rested and prepared for this rivalry showdown.

Between the pipes, Detroit holds the edge. Cam Talbot stands tall with a .923 save percentage and 2.73 GAA. Meanwhile, Chicago’s Petr Mrazek struggles, posting just a .900 save percentage (35th league-wide) and a shaky 3.02 GAA.

Detroit’s defensive pairing of Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson, who have combined for 2.8 defensive point shares, should be able to limit the production of Chicago’s young stars, including Connor Bedard. The Red Wings rank 13th in the league, allowing 34.7 shots against per game over their last 10.

While the Blackhawks have some dangerous offensive weapons and are coming off two straight wins, the Wings are my best bet. The red and white team is more well-rested, has better goaltending, and has dominated the rivalry recently.

    DET Red Wings -1.5 (+200) -120 Over 6.5 (+110)
    CHI Blackhawks +1.5 (-275) Even Under 6.5 (-130)

The Red Wings are currently favored to win, with the moneyline set at -120. This means a $120 bet on Detroit would return a profit of $100 if they get the victory. The Blackhawks are slight underdogs at even money (+100).

Detroit is listed at -1.5 (+200) on the puck line, while Chicago is +1.5 (-275). A Red Wings puck line bet would require them to win by 2+ goals for a $200 profit on a $100 wager. The Hawks puck line would cash if they win or lose by a single goal.

The game total is set at 6.5 goals, with the under favored at -130 and the over at +110. Oddsmakers see a fairly low-scoring contest, which aligns with the teams’ recent head-to-head trends (four of the last six meetings have gone under or pushed).

The Red Wings have won three of the last four games when favored, while Chicago’s only recent win came as a home underdog. The over/under trends have been fairly even, with two overs, two unders, and two pushes in the last six head-to-head meetings.

The Hawks come in hot, riding a two-game win streak after their rough start. Their offense clicks lately, too – they’ve created 11+ high-danger chances in three of five games. But don’t let that fool you.

On the flip side, the Red Wings are just 1-2-1 in their last four games and have been outshot in nearly every game this season. However, their special teams have been a bright spot, with their power play ranking 7th in the NHL and their penalty kill at a respectable 75%.

  • Read below for Panthers vs Stars prediction, odds and player prop for Friday

  • The 2024 NHL Global Series continues with a marquee matchup between the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars in Finland. Puck drop at Nokia Arena is set for 2:00 PM EST, with NHL Network broadcasting the game nationally.

The Friday NHL odds have the Panthers and Stars in a pick’em, with both teams at -110 on the moneyline. These two clubs are off to strong starts and looking to make an early statement in this international clash.

Here is our Panthers vs Stars prediction, along with NHL betting odds and picks.

    Panthers vs Stars Prediction

This has all the makings of a tight, evenly-matched contest between two of the NHL’s top teams in the early going. However, we give a slight edge to the Stars playing on their pseudo-home ice in Finland.

Dallas has won seven of its first nine games and ranks first in the league in goals against (1.89 per game). Goaltender Jake Oettinger has been stellar, posting a .938 save percentage and 1.84 goals against average. He should be able to limit a high-powered Panthers offense.

The Stars also have some offensive firepower of their own. Matt Duchene leads the team with six goals and 11 points, while Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson are always a threat to find the back of the net. Look for the Stars’ top guns to solve Sergei Bobrovsky.

While the Panthers have won three straight and sit atop the Atlantic Division, their underlying numbers aren’t quite as impressive as Dallas. They rank 15th in goals against and have a goal differential of just plus-three through 11 games.

We expect the Stars to grind out a close victory on the strength of their stingy defense and timely scoring. Back Dallas on the moneyline in what should be a playoff-type atmosphere in Finland.

    FLA Panthers -1.5 (+210) -110 Over 5.5 (-130)
    DAL Stars +1.5 (-300) -110 Under 5.5 (+110)

The Panthers vs Stars odds are about as tight as can be, with both teams listed at -110 on the moneyline at ESPN Sportsbook. This suggests the oddsmakers view this Global Series clash as a true toss-up.

On the puck line, Florida is favored at -1.5 (+210), meaning they would need to win by two or more goals to cash that bet. Dallas, meanwhile, is +1.5 (-300), so they could lose by a goal and still cover the spread.

The total goals over/under is set at 5.5, with the over juiced to -130 and the under coming back at +110. Keep in mind that the last seven meetings between these teams have seen at least six goals scored.

    Panthers vs Stars Player Props

For those looking to get in on the action, we’ve identified one Panthers vs Stars player prop that catches our eye:

    • Carter Verhaeghe Anytime Goal Scorer (+155)

Verhaeghe has been one of Florida’s best offensive players through the first month of the season. The 27-year-old winger leads the team with a whopping 46 shots on goal and is producing at nearly a point-per-game pace.

While Verhaeghe has only registered two goals, they’ve both come over the past three games. The talented forward has registered 4.4 expected goals so far with a very low 4.44% shooting percentage, so he’s bound to start converting on more of these chances.

At +155 odds, we like the value on Verhaeghe to stay hot and find the back of the net against the Stars. He’s scored in four of the last five meetings with Dallas, so back him to keep that success going in Finland.

  • The Vegas Golden Knights (7-2-1) head to the City of Angels to take on the Los Angeles Kings (5-3-2) in a Wednesday Night showdown on October 30, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 PM Eastern Time at Crypto.com Arena, with national coverage provided by TNT.

The Golden Knights enter as slight favorites at -130, while the over/under is set at 6.5 goals. Can Jack Eichel lead Vegas to their fifth straight win against the Kings tonight?

Here is our Golden Knights vs Kings prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Golden Knights vs Kings Prediction

I’m predicting the Golden Knights to secure their fifth consecutive win against the Kings. Vegas has been on a tear offensively, scoring five or more goals in each of their last four games. They lead the NHL with 4.7 goals per game and have a league-best plus-19 goal differential.

The Golden Knights have a potent offense led by Jack Eichel and Mark Stone, and their power play is clicking at 33.3% (4th in the NHL). Vegas has also won four of their past five matchups with the Kings at Crypto.com Arena.

While the Kings have been solid defensively, ranking 6th in shots against per game (26.9), they struggled in their previous meeting with Vegas, allowing six goals in a 6-1 loss on October 22. LAeles is also coming off a disappointing 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks last night, which means their energy levels won’t be at 100%.

The Golden Knights’ depth has been on full display, with their fourth line of Keegan Kolesar, Nicolas Roy, and Cole Schwindt combining for three goals and five assists in their last game against Calgary. This balanced attack makes Vegas a challenging team to contain.

Though the Kings have won both of their home games this season, the timing of this matchup against a red-hot Golden Knights team is less than ideal. Expect a high-scoring affair, with Vegas coming out on top.

    VGK-LAK Best Bet:

    • Golden Knights ML (-130 at Bet365)

    Knights vs Kings Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    VGK Golden Knights -1.5 (+175) -130 Over 6.5 (+105)
    LA Kings +1.5 (-225) +110 Under 6.5 (-125)

The Golden Knights are currently favored to win this one, with the moneyline set at -130. This means that a $130 bet on Vegas would return a profit of $100 if they emerge victorious. On the flip side, the Kings are underdogs at +110, offering a potential return of $110 on a $100 wager.

Vegas is listed at -1.5 (+175) for those interested in the puck line, while Los Angeles is at +1.5 (-225). A bet on the Golden Knights puck line would require them to win by two or more goals, but it would provide a higher payout. The Kings puck line bet would cash if they either win outright or lose by a single goal.

The total (over/under) for this game is set at 6.5 goals, with the over slightly juiced at +105 and the under at -125. This suggests that oddsmakers believe there’s a slightly higher likelihood of the game seeing six or fewer goals scored.

    Projected Starting Goalies

    Team Goalie Record GAA SV%
VGK Golden Knights Ilya Samsonov 3-0-1 2.21 .932
    LA Kings Darcy Kuemper 2-02 3.20 .897

The projected starting goaltenders for this matchup are Ilya Samsonov for the Golden Knights and Darcy Kuemper for the Kings.

Samsonov has been exceptional against Los Angeles in his career, posting a 4-1-0 record with a stellar 1.22 goals-against average and .960 save percentage. He’s expected to get the nod after Adin Hill started in Vegas’ last game.

Kuemper, on the other hand, has struggled in his career against the Golden Knights. In 13 appearances, he’s 6-7-3 with a 2.31 GAA and .930 SV%, which are worse than his overall career numbers. However, he’s coming off a solid 24-save performance in a win against Utah in his return from a lower-body injury that sidelined him for nearly two weeks.

The goaltending matchup favors Vegas in this one, given Samsonov’s success against the Kings and Kuemper’s shaky history versus the Golden Knights.

  • The Los Angeles Kings head to the SAP Center to take on the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, October 29th at 7:00 PM PT. This Pacific Division battle will be broadcast live from San Jose, California on ESPN.

Oddsmakers have set the Kings as heavy -300 favorites, with the Sharks priced at +250 underdogs for this matchup. The puck drops at 7:00 pm PT.

Here is our Kings vs Sharks prediction, along with NHL odds to consider.

    Kings vs Sharks Prediction

The Kings and Sharks find themselves in very different positions early in the 2024-25 season. Los Angeles sits 2nd in the Pacific with a 5-2-2 record, while San Jose is dead last at 1-7-2. The Kings took the first meeting between these clubs 3-2 in LA last Thursday.

The Kings will lean on their balanced attack, led by veterans Anze Kopitar (3G, 6A) and Adrian Kempe (3G, 5A). Youngsters like Alex Laferriere (4G, 3A) and Brandt Clarke (1G, 6A) have also contributed. LA is averaging a solid 3.11 goals per game.

San Jose finally picked up their first win Monday night, rallying from 4-1 down in the 3rd to beat Utah 5-4 in OT. Mikael Granlund (5G, 8A) has been their main offensive catalyst. However, the Sharks rank dead last in the NHL in goals per game (2.00) and 31st in goals against (4.22).

    https://twitter.com/SanJoseSharks/status/1584695169561309184

In net, the Kings are expected to start Darcy Kuemper (2-0-2, 3.20 GAA, .896 SV%). For the Sharks, Vitek Vanecek (0-4-0, 4.00 GAA, .869 SV%) is the likely starter on the second half of a back-to-back.

I predict a convincing 5-2 road win for the Kings. LA has absolutely dominated this matchup recently, going 8-1-1 in the last ten meetings. The Sharks are playing their 2nd game in as many nights and will be gassed against a rested Kings squad.

LA’s offense, averaging over three goals per game, should feast on a Sharks defense allowing 4.22 goals against (31st). Vitek Vanecek and his .869 save percentage won’t slow them down, either.

The Sharks rank dead last in 1st period goals allowed (1.70 per game), so expect the Kings to jump out to an early lead. LA also has the special teams edge, ranking 12th on the power play vs SJ’s 25th ranked PK.

While the Sharks have some momentum after their big comeback victory on Monday, the Kings are simply the far superior team right now. Lay the -1.5 puck line and watch LA roll.

    Tuesday Hockey Picks:

    • Kings -1.5 Puck Line ()
    • Over 5.5 Goals (-130)

    Kings vs Sharks Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    LA Kings -1.5 (-115) -300 Over 5.5 (-130)
    SJ Sharks +1.5 (-105) +250 Under 5.5 (+110)

The LA Kings are hefty -300 favorites on the moneyline, implying a 75% win probability. The Sharks are +250 underdogs.

On the puck line, LA is favored by 1.5 goals at -115 odds. San Jose is a +1.5 goal underdog at -105.

The total is set at 5.5 goals, with the over juiced to -130 and the under at +110. Given the Sharks’ defensive issues and LA’s solid offense, the over looks appealing here.

    LAK-SJS Injury Report

The Kings enter this game with a clean bill of health and no notable injuries to report.

For the Sharks, there are no new injuries, but fatigue could be a factor as they play their second game in as many nights. This puts them at a significant disadvantage against a rested LA squad.

  • The New York Rangers (6-1-1) face the Washington Capitals (5-2-0) in Tuesday night’s Metropolitan Division showdown
  • We’ve made our Rangers vs Capitals prediction for Tuesday, October 29, 2024
  • Read below for Rangers vs Capitals prediction and odds for tonight’s game on ESPN

  • The New York Rangers (6-1-1) head to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Capitals (5-2-0) in an early-season Metropolitan Division clash on October 29, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM Eastern Time at Capital One Arena, with national coverage provided by ESPN.

The Rangers enter as favorites at -150, while the over/under is set at 6.0 goals. Can Artemi Panarin and the high-powered Rangers offense continue their hot start against Alex Ovechkin and the Caps tonight?

Here is our Rangers vs Capitals prediction for Tuesday Night Hockey.

    Rangers vs Capitals Prediction

I’m backing the Rangers to secure a road victory against their division rivals. New York has been firing on all cylinders offensively, ranking 3rd in the NHL with 4.25 goals per game. Their power play has also been lethal, converting at a 25% clip (9th).

The Rangers’ top scorers have been red hot to start the year. Artemi Panarin leads the way with 15 points (6G, 9A) in 8 games, while Adam Fox has eight assists quarterbacking the power play from the back end. Chris Kreider and Vincent Trocheck provide additional scoring depth.

In net, Igor Shesterkin has been stellar, going 4-1-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .926 SV%. The Rangers have allowed a stingy 2.00 goals against per game, tied for 2nd fewest in the league. The Caps’ goaltending, meanwhile, has been lackluster. Neither of their two goalies owns a save percentage above .900.

While the Capitals have gotten off to a solid 5-2-0 start, their underlying numbers aren’t as impressive. They rank 30th in power play percentage (8.7%) and 16th in shots for per game (29.1), compared to the Rangers at 4th (33.5 SF/GP).

The Caps have also had their struggles in recent matchups with New York. The Rangers are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings, including a 4-game sweep in last year’s playoffs. It’s hard not to think they are still undervalued at -150 in the Tuesday NHL odds.

With the Rangers’ high-end talent up front and strong goaltending from Shesterkin, I’m backing New York to continue their mastery over Washington on Tuesday night. Expect a fast-paced, high-scoring affair, but ultimately a Rangers win.

    Tuesday Hockey Picks:

    Rangers vs Capitals Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    NY Rangers -1.5 (+165) -150 Over 6.0 (-105)
    WSH Capitals +1.5 (-200) +130 Under 6.0 (-115)

The Rangers are currently favored to win this one, with the moneyline set at -150. This means that a $150 bet on New York would return a profit of $100 if they get the W. Meanwhile, the underdog Capitals are listed at +130, offering a potential $130 return on a $100 wager.

For puckline bettors, New York is listed at -1.5 (+165), while Washington is at +1.5 (-200). A Rangers puckline bet would cash if they win by 2+ goals, while a Capitals puckline bet hits if they win outright or lose by just a single goal.

The game’s over/under is set at 6.0 goals, with the over slightly juiced at -105 and the under at -115. This suggests oddsmakers are expecting a high-scoring Metropolitan matchup between these skilled offensive teams.

    NYR-WSH Head-to-Head History

The Rangers and Capitals have faced off 8 times over the past two seasons, with New York winning 7 of those contests. That includes a 4-game sweep by the Rangers in last year’s first-round playoff series.

The Rangers have covered the puckline in four of their last five wins over the Capitals. The over has also hit in four of the last six meetings between these teams, as their high-powered offenses have traded goals. Look for those trends to potentially continue on Tuesday night.

  • The Edmonton Oilers battle the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night
  • The Friday NHL odds heavily favor Connor McDavid and the Oilers (-220)
  •  Read below for Penguins vs Oilers prediction, odds and player props to bet

  • The Edmonton Oilers (2-4-1) host the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-4-1) in a cross-conference NHL matchup on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Rogers Place. Puck drop is set for 9:00 PM ET, with TV coverage on Sportsnet West and ESPN+.

The NHL odds heavily favor the Oilers at -220 on the moneyline, while the Penguins are +180 underdogs. The total is set at 6.5 goals, with the over juiced at -115.

Here is our Penguins vs Oilers prediction for Friday Night Hockey.

    Penguins vs Oilers Prediction

Both teams enter this matchup struggling to find consistency. The Oilers are looking to bounce back from a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina, while the Penguins aim to snap a three-game losing streak after falling 4-3 in a shootout to Calgary.

Edmonton’s offense has been uncharacteristically quiet, averaging just 2.00 goals per game. However, Connor McDavid showed signs of life with two goals in their last outing. The Oilers power play is due for positive regression, currently converting at a mere 10.5% rate.

Pittsburgh’s defense has been their Achilles’ heel, allowing 4.25 goals per game (30th in the NHL). Their goaltending situation remains unsettled, with Tristan Jarry sent back to Pittsburgh to “reset his mindset.”

The Oilers have dominated this matchup recently, winning six straight against the Penguins, each by at least three goals. Given Pittsburgh’s defensive woes and Edmonton’s potent offense due for a breakout, the over is my best bet.

Edmonton’s 5-on-5 offensive metrics suggest positive regression is coming, while Pittsburgh has seen the over hit in four of their last five games overall and five of their last six road games.

    Friday Night Hockey Pick:

    • Over 6.5 Goals (-115)

    Penguins vs Oilers Odds

    Team Puck Line Moneyline Total
    Pittsburgh Penguins +1.5 (-175) +180 Over 6.5 (-115)
    Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+145) -220 Under 6.5 (-105)

The Oilers are heavy -220 favorites, which implies a 68.75% probability of victory. This heavy favoritism stems from their recent dominance in the head-to-head series and the expectation that their offense will soon return to form. The Penguins, at +180, have an implied win probability of 35.71%.

Edmonton’s odds reflect their superior talent and home-ice advantage, despite their slow start. Conversely, Pittsburgh’s underdog status is a product of their defensive woes and road struggles against Western Conference opponents (0-7 in their last seven such games).

The Oilers opened as the preseason favorites in the 2025 Stanley Cup odds, but have seen their odd slip to +800 despite remaining favored. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, is a massive +7000 longshot.

    Player Props

Given my prediction of a high-scoring affair, it’s worth tapping into the player props market to compliment your picks. Here are some plays I’ve locked in:

    Connor McDavid Over 1.5 Points

McDavid has historically torched the Penguins, recording over 1.5 points in five of their last six meetings. With Pittsburgh’s defensive issues, the Oilers’ captain should have ample opportunities to continue this trend.

    Evgeni Malkin Over 0.5 Assists
Malkin leads the Penguins with nine assists in eight games. He’s been their most consistent offensive producer and should find opportunities to set up teammates against an Oilers defense allowing 3.86 goals per game.

    Zach Hyman Over 3.5 Shots
Hyman’s shot volume has decreased this season, but he’s still averaging 6.41 shots per 60 minutes at 5-on-5. The Penguins are allowing the fourth-most shots per game (33.3), providing Hyman with a prime opportunity to surpass this total.

    Sidney Crosby Over 0.5 Points
While Crosby has had a slower start by his standards, he’s too talented to be held off the scoresheet consistently. The Oilers’ defensive struggles present an excellent opportunity for Crosby to get back on track.

    PIT vs EDM Injury Report

Evander Kane is out for the Oilers with an abdominal injury. The Penguins sent goaltender Tristan Jarry back to Pittsburgh, leaving Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist as likely options for Friday’s game.

The Oilers are overdue for an offensive explosion, and they get a golden opportunity against the struggling Penguins’ defense. Expect Edmonton to exploit the mismatch and for this game to fly over the total.

  • Kings vs Knights is the final game of the Tuesday NHL Frozen Frenzy
  • Our Kings vs Golden Knights prediction is concentrating on the game total
  • Read below for Kings vs Knights prediction, picks and odds for Tuesday’s NHL game

  • The LA Kings (3-1-2) wrap up their season-opening seven-game road trip with a visit to T-Mobile Arena to face the Vegas Golden Knights (3-2-1) on Tuesday night. This late-night Pacific Division showdown caps off the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy, with puck drop set for 11:00 PM ET on ESPN.

The latest Kings vs Golden Knights odds favor the home team, with the over/under now set at 5.5. We have locked in a wager on the game total for tonight’s action.

Here is our Kings vs Golden Knights prediction for Tuesday’s NHL Frozen Frenzy game.

    Kings vs Golden Knights Prediction

While both teams boast snipers, I’m leaning towards the under 6 goals (-140) in this matchup. The Kings have tightened up defensively in their last two games, allowing just two goals total. Vegas, despite their offensive firepower, has struggled to find the back of the net consistently during their three-game losing streak.

David Rittich is expected to start for the Kings, and he’s been solid in his last two outings, posting a 2.00 GAA. The Golden Knights will counter with Ilya Samsonov, who has a .921 save percentage in his first two starts with VGK. Moreover, Samsonov was 13-4 on home ice last season.

Both teams will be eager to clean up their defensive play, and with the late start time potentially impacting scoring, I see this as a lower-scoring affair than the oddsmakers predict. The Kings’ fatigue from their long road trip could also play a factor, as they may opt for a more conservative game plan.

These two teams played twice at T-Mobile Arena last season, with each game falling under the total. LA is on a remarkable 52-36 run to the “Under” over the past several years. I expect them to try to slow this game down, take the crowd out of it, and cash the under for bettors in the process.

This line has dropped from 6 to 5.5 at most sportsbooks, which indicates where the big money is going. However, DraftKings still has 6 available in the alternative total options at -140. I think this is still a fair price, but I wouldn’t play below -150.

    LA-VGK Pick:

    • Under 6 (-140 at DK)

    LA vs Vegas Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    LA Kings +1.5 (-265) +105 Over 5.5 (-125)
    VGS Golden Knights -1.5 (+190) -125 Under 5.5 (+105)

The Golden Knights enter this matchup as the favorites, with the moneyline set at -128. This means that a $128 bet on Vegas would yield a $100 profit if they emerge victorious. On the flip side, the Kings are underdogs at +107, meaning a $100 bet would net a $107 profit if they pull off the upset.

The puck line is set at -1.5 for the Golden Knights (+180) and +1.5 for the Kings (-210). A bet on the Knights -1.5 would require them to win by two or more goals, while a Kings +1.5 bet would cash if they either win outright or lose by a single goal.

The over/under for total goals scored is set at 5.5, with the over at -125 and the under at +105. This suggests oddsmakers expect a low-scoring battle.

    NHL Injury Report

Injuries could play a significant role in this matchup, particularly for the Kings. They’ll be without key defenseman Drew Doughty and promising winger Arthur Kaliyev, both of whom are on injured reserve. Backup goaltender Darcy Kuemper is also questionable with a lower-body injury.

The Golden Knights are missing some depth pieces but could welcome back top-six center William Karlsson, who is questionable after missing the last game with an undisclosed injury. Winger Victor Olofsson remains out with a lower-body issue.

    Team Player Position Injury Status
Kings Drew Doughty D Ankle IR
Kings Arthur Kaliyev RW Collarbone IR
Kings Darcy Kuemper G Lower Body Questionable
Golden Knights William Karlsson C Undisclosed Questionable
Golden Knights Victor Olofsson RW Lower Body OUT

The absence of the offensive-minded Doughty on the Kings’ blue line and potentially Karlsson from Vegas’ forward group could contribute to a tighter, more defensive-minded game from both sides.

    Flyers vs Capitals Prediction

One of my top predictions for the NHL Frozen Frenzy is for the Philadelphia Flyers to snap their four-game losing streak against Washington. The public certainly doesn’t want to bet on the Flyers right now, yet oddsmakers have set them as favorites in the NHL odds.

When public money is pouring in on one team in the NHL betting trends, but the line moves in the other direction, that’s a sign of sharp money. Washington actually opened at -105 but now they are +110 at Pinnacle, one of the world’s sharpest books.

Philadelphia is due for some positive regression, as they’ve been unlucky defensively so far this season. The Flyers have the second-worst goals against above expected (6.55) despite boasting the seventh-best expected goals against (9.45).

Additionally, their offense is also likely to improve, as their current 5.77% shooting percentage ranks fourth-worst in the league and is unsustainably low. Moreover, playing at home for just the second time this season, expect a motivated Flyers squad to come out flying in front of their fans.

Caps’ starting goalie Logan Thompson has a .877 save percentage this season, setting up an offensive breakout for Philly. The Flyers have won two of their past three matchups with Washington at Wells Fargo Center. I predict them to continue this trend by picking up their first home win of the season on Tuesday.

    WSH-PHI Pick:

    • Flyers ML (-130)

    Stars vs Sabres Pick

Another one of my top bets for Tuesday’s NHL Frozen Frenzy is the Dallas Stars puck line of -1.5 vs Buffalo. The Stars are climbing in the Stanley Cup odds due to their 5-1 start to the season and stingy defense.

Dallas boasts a balanced attack led by Roope Hintz, Logan Stankoven, and Jason Robertson, each with three goals on the season. However, it’s their defense allowing only 1.5 goals per game which makes me love this bet.

Goaltender Jake Oettinger has been stellar, posting a 1.48 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage in his four starts. The recently signed goalie now faces a struggling Buffalo offense that has yet to score a power-play goal on 21 opportunities.

This matchup has typically been very one-sided, with Dallas winning 10 of the last 13 meetings. This includes a game in March 2023 when Dallas ran up the score 10-4. In a matchup between Dallas’ top-ranked defense and the Sabres’ 25th-ranked defense, the Stars puck line is a great frozen frenzy play.

    DAL-BUF Pick:

    • Stars -1.5 (+170)

  • The Boston Bruins (2-2-0) head to the Mile High City to take on the Colorado Avalanche (0-3-0) in a Wednesday Night showdown on October 16, 2024. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 PM Eastern Time at Ball Arena, with national coverage provided by TNT.

The Avalanche enter as slight favorites at -135, while the over/under is set at 6.5 goals. Can Nathan MacKinnon get their first win of the season against the B’s tonight?

Here is our Bruins vs Avalanche prediction for Wednesday Night Hockey.

    Avalanche vs Bruins Prediction

Despite their early-season struggles, I’m backing the Avalanche to secure their first win of the season against the Bruins. Colorado has won the possession battle and generated more expected goals at 5-on-5 in all three games, indicating they are due for positive regression.

The Avs have a potent offense led by Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, and their power play is clicking at 33.3% (3rd in the NHL). The Avs have also scored at least four goals in four of their past five matchups with the B’s at Ball Arena.

While it’s true the Avs have lost five straight home games, I don’t think this will last for long. Last year, they hit the moneyline in 33 of their 48 home games, good for a 36 ROI. The altitude is always a factor, and the Avs have the upper hand playing their games in the Mile High City.

Boston’s underlying metrics are concerning, as they rank 27th in Corsi For percentage (47.3%) and 25th in expected goals percentage (45.1%) at 5-on-52. The Bruins are also due for regression in the opposite direction, as their league-high 14.1% shooting percentage at 5-on-5 is unsustainable.

While the Avalanche have struggled defensively and in goal, they have the firepower to outscore their problems against a Bruins team that has looked vulnerable early in the season. Expect a high-scoring affair with Colorado coming out on top.

    Wednesday Hockey Picks:

    Bruins vs Avalanche Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    BOS Bruins +1.5 (-245) +115 Over 6.5 (-106)
    COL Avalanche -1.5 (+198) -135 Under 6.5 (-114)

The Avalanche are currently favored to win this one, with the moneyline set at -135. This means that a $135 bet on Colorado would return a profit of $100 if they emerge victorious. On the flip side, the Bruins are underdogs at +115, offering a potential return of $115 on a $100 wager.

Colorado is listed at -1.5 (+198) for those interested in the puck line, while Boston is at +1.5 (-245). A bet on the Avalanche puck line would require them to win by two or more goals, but it would provide a significantly higher payout. The Bruins puck line bet would cash if they either win outright or lose by a single goal.

The total (over/under) for this game is set at 6.5 goals, with the over slightly juiced at -106 and the under at -114. This suggests that oddsmakers believe there’s a slightly higher likelihood of the game seeing seven or more goals scored.

    BOS-COL H2H History

The Bruins and Avalanche have faced each other 10 times since the 2018-19 season, with both teams winning five games apiece. However, the Bruins have had the upper hand in recent meetings, winning three of the last four contests.

  • We’ve made our Flyers vs Oilers prediction for Tuesday (Oct. 15)
  • Read below for Flyers vs Oilers prediction, odds and starting goalies

  • The Edmonton Oilers (0-3-0) will look to secure their first victory of the season when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (1-1-0) at Rogers Place on Tuesday, October 15.

Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 PM EDT on ESPN. The Oilers enter as heavy -210 moneyline favorites, while the Flyers are +175 underdogs. The total is set at 6.5 goals.

Here is our Flyers vs Oilers prediction, along with a breakdown of the NHL betting odds

    Flyers vs Oilers Odds

    Team Spread Moneyline Total
    Philadelphia Flyers +1.5 (-145) +175 Over 6.5 (-105)
    Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+120) -210 Under 6.5 (-115)

The Edmonton Oilers are heavily favored at -210 in the Tuesday NHL odds, which implies a 67.7% probability of winning. The Flyers are +175 underdogs, giving them a 36.4% implied probability of victory.

The -210 odds for the Oilers reflect their status as preseason Stanley Cup favorites, despite their slow start. The Flyers’ +175 odds offer significant value for bettors who believe they can capitalize on Edmonton’s early-season struggles.

In terms of over/under, the total number of projected goals is 6.5, with the over slightly favored at -105. This suggests oddsmakers expect a high-scoring game, likely due to the Oilers’ potent offense and both teams’ defensive issues so far this season.

    Oilers Seeking Offensive Spark

It’s been a nightmare start for an Oilers team that entered the season as the Stanley Cup favorites. The Oilers have stumbled out of the gate, losing their first three games on home ice and being outscored 15-3 in the process.

The Oilers have controlled play at 5v5, generating 63% of shot attempts and 58% of expected goals, but they’ve struggled to convert on their chances. In their last outing, they came up short against the Flames in the Battle of Alberta.

The lack of finishing is surprising considering the star power on this Oilers roster. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl usually fill the scoresheet with ease, but they have been held in check for the most part so far.

Edmonton’s power play, which ranked first in the NHL last season, is clicking at just 20% to start the year. Jeff Skinner leads the team with two points (1 goal, 1 assist), while Mattias Ekholm has chipped in with two assists.

Injuries have also been a factor for the Oilers. Evander Kane is on long-term IR with an estimated return in February, while Derek Ryan, Calvin Pickard, and Raphael Lavoie are all listed as day-to-day.

    Flyers Playing .500 Hockey Early

Philadelphia has split their first two games of a four-game road trip, posting a 1-1-0 record. The Flyers are averaging 2.50 goals per game while allowing 4.00. Travis Konecny has been the offensive catalyst, leading the team with two goals.

Bobby Brink has contributed two assists, including one on the power play. The Flyers’ special teams have been solid, with a 25.0% success rate on the power play and an 80.0% penalty kill. They’ve also notched one short-handed goal.

Rookie Matvei Michkov, who recorded his first NHL point against Calgary, is expected to skate on Philadelphia’s top power-play unit. The 2023 first-round pick will have an opportunity to showcase his elite puck skills against an Oilers penalty kill operating at just 44%.

On the injury front, defenseman Nick Seeler is on IR with an estimated return on October 17, while Samu Tuomaala is listed as out but could return for this game.

    Starting Goalies

The Oilers are expected to start Stuart Skinner between the pipes. Skinner has struggled mightily to start the season, going 0-2-0 with a dismal .805 save percentage and 9.64 goals-against average.

For the Flyers, Samuel Ersson will likely get the nod after a strong performance in the season opener. Ersson is 1-0-0 with a .923 save percentage and 1.85 goals-against average.

    Flyers vs Oilers Prediction

While the Flyers present intriguing value as heavy underdogs, it’s hard to bet on the Oilers dropping to 0-4 to start the season. Edmonton’s underlying metrics suggest they’re due for a breakout, and the desperation factor should propel them to victory on home ice.

With only three goals on the year, the Oilers haven’t found their offensive touch yet. They should find it tonight against a Flyers team allowing four goals per game. Edmonton has only received five power-play opportunities through the first three games (20.0 PP%), which should also change soon.

I like the Over 6.5 goals for my Flyers vs Oilers prediction. The goals are coming for Kris Knoblauch’s squad, and there’s also likely positive regression ahead for their special teams. With both teams struggling defensively, there’s a good chance we’ll see plenty of pucks in the net.

Moreover, the “over” has cashed in six of the last eight games between these clubs at Rogers Place. Neither goalie can be trusted to help buck that trend tonight.
