New York Sports Betting Handle Hits All-Time Monthly High

New Yorkers flocked to their apps during October and bet the most they ever have in the state’s sports betting history.
The New York State Gaming Commission reported $2.3 billion in online sports betting handle for October, the highest ever amount bet in the state’s history. It was only the fifth month New York has topped the $2 billion sports betting handle mark.
Gross gaming revenue did not follow suit, however, as the state saw a $28 million decrease from September’s total.
Football Driving Sports Betting Numbers
As always, football is key for driving sports betting numbers. New York reported $2,321,095,638 in total online sports betting for October, topping the previous monthly high of $2,109,294,400 in November 2023.
Each of the five months New York online sports betting eclipsed $2 billion in handle has been during the NFL and college football seasons.
The New York State Gaming Commission releases handle and revenue reports for its nine live NY sports betting apps, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel, BetMGM, Fanatics Sportsbook, Bally Bet, Resorts World Bet, ESPN BET, and BetRivers, at the conclusion of each week.
The commission reported $558,403,948 in handle and $52,274,672 in gross gaming revenue for the week ending Nov. 3.

For the week of Nov. 3, the nine sportsbooks reported a total of $52,274,672 in gross gaming revenue. At New York’s 51% online sports betting tax rate, this resulted in $26,660,082 million in tax revenue.
