    Pantoja vs Asakura Prediction

“The Cannibal” Alexandre Pantoja puts his six-fight win streak on the line at UFC 310. Pantoja brings an unmatched blend of aggression, durability, and technical brilliance to the cage.

The Rio de Janeiro native has cemented himself as the most dangerous 125-pound fighter in the world. With 10 career submission victories, Pantoja uses his suffocating ground game to perfection. His aggressive striking and threatening submission game give him the ability to finish this fight.

On the other side of the cage, Kai Asakura is a live underdog with dynamite hands.  The former RIZIN champ has won seven of his last nine bouts and possesses the type of knockout power rarely seen in the flyweight division. Having said that, his suspect takedown defense could leave him vulnerable against a grappler as seasoned as Pantoja.

Expect Pantoja to weather Asakura’s early onslaught before dragging this championship bout into deeper waters. From there, “The Cannibal” can exploit his challenger’s weakness on the ground and lock up another submission victory.

    Pantoja vs Asakura Pick:

    • Alexandre Pantoja by submission (+190)

    Rakhmanov vs Garry Prediction

The UFC 310 co-main event pits two undefeated welterweights in a clash of styles. Shavkat Rakhmanov has quickly become a fan favorite, with a perfect 18-0 record  and each victory coming by stoppage.  His relentless grappling style and devastating striking game make the Kazakhstani fighter a nightmare matchup for anyone in the division.

However, Ian Machado Garry is dangerous is his own right, and will be riding a wave of hype into the cage on Saturday. The Irishman has won 19 straight fights to begin his career, showcasing pinpoint striking and an excellent fight IQ on his rise. Although, questions remain about his ability to handle elite grapplers. Rakhmanov’s heavy pressure style could have Garry in trouble early.

With two outstanding finishers in the cage, this fight is unlikely to go the distance. Ultimately, Rakhmanov’s relentless pace will be too much for Garry, who’s yet to face a fighter of his caliber. Expect the Kazakh standout to earn another highlight reel finish.

    Rakhmanov vs Garry Pick:

    • Shavkat Rakhmanov by KO/TKO (+280)

Here’s how we see the fights playing out at UFC Macau.

    UFC Macau Odds

    Fighter Odds Over/Under Rounds
    Volkan Oezdemir +190 O 1.5 -200
    Carlos Ulberg -230 U 1.5 +154

    Fighter Odds Over/Under Rounds
    Petr Yan -305 O 4.5 -180
    Deiveson Figueiredo +245 U 4.5 +140

Looking at the UFC Macau betting lines, hard-hitting Carlos Ulberg (-230) is expected to handle Volkan Oezdemir (+190) in their light heavyweight scrap. China’s own Wang Cong (-900) is a huge favorite to beat Gabriella Fernandes (+600) in what should be a quick night.

The co-main has former title challenger Yan Xiaonan (-185) trying to bounce back against grappling ace Tabatha Ricci (+154). Most think this one goes all three rounds.

For our main event, former bantamweight king Petr Yan (-305) is the clear favorite over ex-flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo (+245). The bookies are betting on this going the full 25 minutes.

Petr Yan vs Deiveson Figueiredo Prediction

In our headliner, ex-bantamweight champ Petr Yan (-305) looks to build on his momentum. He’s up against a dangerous customer in former flyweight boss Deiveson Figueiredo (+245), who’s been on fire at 135.

Yan got back in the win column with a masterclass against Song Yadong in March. He reminded everyone why he used to wear the belt, showing off those crisp hands and solid takedown defense.

Since moving up to bantamweight, Figueiredo’s been a problem. The Brazilian powerhouse has taken out Marlon Vera, Cody Garbrandt and Rob Font back-to-back-to-back. At 36, “Figgy” still packs that one-punch power and slick submission game that made him champ.

We’ve got two former champs hungry to get back to the top. Yan’s got better hands and height, but Figueiredo brings that scary power and a bit more reach.

Yan vs Figueiredo Tale of the Tape

    Yan
    VS
    Figueiredo
    31 Age 36
    17-5-0 Record 24-3-1
    5′ 7″ Height 5′ 5″
    67″ Reach 68″
    Switch Stance Orthodox
5.14 Significant Strikes per Minute 3.01
    59.01% Significant Strike Accuracy 59.78%
    1.73 Takedown Average 1.68
    51.02% Takedown Accuracy 35.94%
    0.14 Submission Average 1.60

Neither guy has finished anyone since 2020, which is why the odds are -150 for this to go the distance. Plus, no one’s been able to finish Yan since 2016, and Figueiredo’s last three fights at bantamweight have gone to the judges.

Expect a back-and-forth battle for all five rounds. At the end of it all, Yan’s sharp striking, smart wrestling and better gas tank should get him the win.

    • Prediction: Yan by unanimous decision

Yan Xiaonan vs Tabatha Ricci Prediction

The co-main sees China’s Yan Xiaonan (-185) looking to rebound after a tough title fight loss against rising Brazilian Tabatha Ricci (+154) in a key strawweight bout.

Xiaonan’s title shot didn’t go her way, with Zhang Weili overwhelming her last time out. Before that stumble, she’d picked up big wins over Mackenzie Dern and Jessica Andrade to prove she belongs at the top.

Standing in her way is the crafty Ricci. The 28-year-old “Baby Shark” has quietly put together a solid 5-1 UFC record, using her black belt BJJ to give everyone fits. She’s giving up some size to Xiaonan, but Ricci’s wrestling and submission skills make her a live dog.

Both fighters can take a shot, and with Xiaonan coming off that rough loss, this has war written all over it. Ricci’s ground game could be the difference-maker against Xiaonan’s striking, making that +154 pretty tempting. For a safer play, look at Ricci winning on the cards at +333.

    • Prediction: Ricci by split decision (+550)

    Other Notable UFC Macau Fights

Keep an eye on Chinese knockout artist Zhang Mingyang (-310) taking on Contender Series grad Ozzy Diaz (+250). This should be fireworks at light heavyweight. Mingyang has been crushing it lately, finishing his last 10 opponents in round one, including a quick 62-second KO of Brendson Ribeiro in his UFC debut.

You’ve also got 22-year-old prospect Feng Xiaocan (-300) facing off with veteran Shi Ming (+240) in the Road to UFC flyweight final. Feng’s size advantage should be too much for Ming to handle.

Lastly, we’ve got two undefeated fighters as England’s Lone’er Kavanagh (-360) welcomes Peru’s Jose Ochoa (+285) to the UFC. Kavanagh looked legit with a first-round finish on the Contender Series, while Ochoa brings a clean 7-0 record. When perfect records clash, go with the guy who’s faced better competition.

From top to bottom, this 11-fight card is packed with fresh matchups and rising talent. Whether you’re a hardcore fan or looking to make some money, there’s plenty to like here.

Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic Prediction

Jon Jones returns to the Octagon to take on former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. Jones enters the cage for the first time since March 2023 on Saturday night after a bicep injury forced him out of this fight a year ago.

The heavyweight champ has won 18 straight fights. His last loss was after downward 12-6 elbows against Matt Hamill led to a disqualification loss at the Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December of 2009.

Meanwhile, 42-year-old Stipe Miocic enters the Octagon for his first bout since a knockout loss to Francis Ngannou way back in March of 2021. The former Golden Glove boxer utilized incredible jabs and lateral movement to make mince meat out of the UFC heavyweight division en route to the title. On top of that, he was a Division 1 wrestler at Cleveland State, and has the size and strength to go toe-to-toe with Jones.

Miocic is a big man, but Jones will still have a four-and-a-half-inch reach advantage in the cage. Word of out Jones’ camp is the Rochester native has put a ton of his work into his boxing. His incredible athleticism and anticipation skills have made him an all-time great. Jones use of timely hand-fighting, along with jabs and front kicks to keep his opponents’ off balance make him an MMA goliath. He’s a powerful, stance-switching enigma, with the poise and patience to break down even his most fearsome challengers.

Ultimately, Jones’ incredible athleticism and diverse striking ability gives him the nod here. Stipe is well past his prime and has shown the wear and tear of a number of wars in the heavyweight division. Expect Jones to control the pace, using his length to keep Miocic at bay and finish him as the fight wears on.

    • UFC 309 Main Event Pick: Jon Jones to win by submission (+220)

Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler Prediction

Charles Oliveira (34-10 MMA, 24-10 UFC) and Michael Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) go to war in a rematch of the UFC 262 scrap for the then vacant lightweight title. After a slow start, Oliveira finished the former three-time Bellator champ with a vicious left hook to take home the belt.

Since then, Oliveira has won three of five fights. The experienced Brazilian last took to the cage in April and lost a split decision to Arman Tsarukyan.

On the other hand, Chandler has spent most of the past two years waiting around to fight Conor McGregor. The Highridge, Missouri native has lost three of his past four fights. Chandler lost by rear naked choke to Dustin Poirier in November of 2022 and hasn’t stepped foot in the cage since.

With all of Chandler’s ring rust, and Oliveira’s slippery athleticism beginning to wane as he ages, the over 1.5 rounds is the play for the UFC 309 main event. Each of these men is far too experienced to be caught with a quick punch. After all, Chandler and Oliveira have only three combined first-round finishes in their last 10 bouts combined.

    • UFC 309 Co-Main Event Pick: Over 1.5 rounds (-110)

    Magny vs Prates Prediction

The main event of UFC Fight Night 247 features seasoned veteran Neil Magny (29-12, 22-11 UFC) facing off against Carlos “The Nightmare” Prates (20-6, 3-0 UFC). Prates enters the octagon with huge expectations as a -800 favorite.

He’s an aggressive striker who’s finished all three of his UFC opponents thus far. Incredibly, the Brazilian is on a 10-fight winning streak, with eight straight knockout victories. His powerful striking game overwhelms and devastates unprepared opponents.

Across the cage, Neil Magny’s resilience will be put to the test early and often at UFC Fight Night 247. The grizzled MMA veteran’s 80″ reach and famed endurance will be key to his success on Saturday night. Magny will need to weather Prates’ early onslaught and aim to wear him down over time in order to pull off an upset.

Prates will look to set the pace of the fight and launch explosive strikes from the opening bell. His recent performances have demonstrated improved cardio and the ability to pace himself against tougher competition.

Magny’s recent losses against other high-pressure fighters like Michael Morales and Gilbert Burns show that he is susceptible to an early beatdown. Look for Prates’ heavy hands to end this fight quickly.

    • Magny vs Prates Pick: Under 1.5 rounds (-110)

    de Ridder vs Meerschaert Prediction

In the co-main event, former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight champion Reinier de Ridder makes his highly anticipated UFC debut against veteran fighter Gerald Meerschaert. de Ridder boasts 12 submission victories over the course of his career, which is no surprise since he’s been training judo since the age of five and has added brazilian jiu-jitsu to his fighting repertoire.

Meerschaert himself is no stranger to grappling heavy contests. He owns 29 submission victories, and has the second-most submission victories in UFC middleweight history with 12.

That being said, de Ridder will be the far larger fighter at UFC Fight Night 247, standing over 6’4. His strength and grappling IQ set him apart from most middleweights. “The Dutch Knight” often overwhelms opponents and will aim to impose his grappling dominance early.

Meerschaert will be forced to relentlessly defend takedowns and will need to capitalize on striking opportunities to pull off the upset. Expect to see de Ridder attack Meerchaert from the jump. Bet on the Dutchman to force his opponent to tap before the final bell.

    • de Ridder vs Meerschaert Pick: Reinier de Ridder to win, under 2.5 total rounds parlay (+135)

    Moreno vs Albazi Predictions

Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno (21-8-2, 9-4-2 UFC) goes to war with Amir Albazi (17-1, 5-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC Edmonton on Saturday night.

Moreno last fought at UFC Fight Night Moreno vs Royval 2 in Mexico City in February, losing a razor-tight split decision to Brandon Royval. “The Assassin Baby” is a on a two-fight losing streak for the first time in his career, having lost his UFC flyweight championship to Alexandre Pantoja vis split decision at UFC 290.

Born in Baghdad, Amir Albazi now fights out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas and is slowly climbing the UFC rankings. He’s coming off of a split decision victory over Kai Kara-France last June, and has won all five of his UFC scraps. He had to pull out of this contest earlier this year with a spinal injury that required surgery.

However, Albazi appears to be all the way back and prepared for the biggest fight of his life. Six of Albazi’s career victories have come by way of knockout, but he is far from a high-volume striker. In fact, “The Prince” has absorbed my significant strikes per minute (3.07) than he has dished out (2.8) in his UFC career.

Expect to see Moreno’s experience, athleticism and striking ability get the best of Albazi in the UFC Edmonton main event.

    • Moreno vs Albazi Pick: Brandon Moreno by decision (+170)

    Blanchfield vs Namajunas Predictions

Erin Blanchfield (12-2, 6-1 UFC) is one of the most accomplished grapplers in the UFC flyweight division. She’s won six of her seven UFC scraps, but is coming off a loss to Manon Fiorot in March.

Impressively, Blanchfield finished former contenders Molly McCann and Jessica Andrade in their bouts. Devastating both with fabulous submissions. She sports a 33% takedown accuracy with a fantastic 81% takedown defense in her UFC career.

On the other side of the Octagon, Rose Namajunas is a dangerous striker. “Thug” has won two straight bouts after dropping two straight contests. She dominated both Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez in the leadup to this bout, and now gets a step up in competition as she aims to return to the top of the UFC flyweight ladder.

Rose wins by pushing the pace, cornering opponents and unleashing her thunderous hands. While she has seven finishes in her career, her last win that didn’t go to the judges score cards was back in 2021. In fact each of her four bouts since have gone the distance.

With 3.7 significant strikes landed per minute, Namajunas is a volume-based puncher. If she can keep her UFC Edmonton bout with Blanchfield standing, she’s got a great shot to pull out the victory.

Backing Namajunas as an underdog is the play. Her high-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu will enable “Thug” to keep the fight standing and land the more significant shots vs Blanchfield.

    • Blanchfield vs Namajunas Pick: Rose Namajunas ML

Ilia Topuria vs Max Holloway Pick

Georgian featherweight kingpin Ilia Topuria (15-0) defends his title for the first time against former champ Max Holloway (26-7) at UFC 308. Each of these fighters enter off of highlight-reel knockout victories. “El Matador” destroyed Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 with his patented right hook.

Holloway, meanwhile, famously called Justin Gaethje to the center of the cage and knocked him out cold with a wild overhand right just before the bell at UFC 300. UFC 308’s main event has fight of the night written all over it.

Topuria’s main approach is straightforward. He looks to press his opponents’ back against the cage, set him up with hooks to the body, and unleash his devastating overhand. Topuria averages 4.4 significant strikes landed per minute with a 92% takedown defense.

Holloway’s strategy generally differs depending on the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent and the questions his foes’ movement bring about as the fight progresses. With a 22-7 record in the UFC, there’s not much Holloway hasn’t seen in the octagon.

The 32-year-old has been plying his trade in the UFC since he was 20, and it shows. He’s averaged 7.17 significant strikes landed per minute, with 48% striking accuracy and a strong takedown defense rate of 84%.

Crucially, Holloway has never been stopped in his career. Even against the power of Topuria that’s unlikely to change on Saturday. Expect to see this main event go all five rounds.

    • Topuria vs Holloway Pick: Over 4.5 rounds (+105)

Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev Pick

This fight provides a contrast in styles.

Khamzat Chimaev (12-0, 7-0 UFC) aims to drive his opponent to the fence and attack with takedowns. From there, he’ll look to use the fence to gain control or climb up with a body lock. Chimaev lands 5.72 significant strikes per minute. He sports an impressive 100% takedown defense, while 3.99 takedowns per 15 minutes.

On the other side of the cage, Robert Whittaker (26-7, 17-5 UFC) will likely look to use his staggered jab to change levels and keep Chimaev off balance as he looks to shoot. Whittaker needs to be wholly aware of where in the cage this fight takes place, and keep the action in the center of the octagon. If Chimaev can force him into the fence, the action could be over quickly.

Ultimately, Chimaev is the much larger fighter, with both a reach and height advantage. He’s smack dab in his prime and will take Whittaker to the wood shed at UFC 308. Bet on Chimaev to end this bout quickly.

    • Whittaker vs Chimaev Pick: Khamzat Chimaev to win in round one (+500)

    Michel Pereira +120 U 2.5 -175

The biggest favorite on the main card is Kyler Phillips at -535 over Rob Font (+400). Those odds imply Phillips has an 84.25% chance of winning the fight, while Font has just a 20% probability of pulling off the upset.

The most lopsided odds are in the Hadley vs Smotherman fight, with Hadley a hefty -500 favorite (83.33% implied probability) against the +380 underdog Smotherman (20.83%).

The tightest odds on the main card are for the Hernandez vs Pereira headliner, which is close to a pick’em. Hernandez is a slim -142 favorite, giving him 58.68% implied win probability.

Anthony Hernandez vs Michel Pereira Prediction

The main event features two middleweights riding impressive win streaks. Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez (-130) enters on a five-fight tear, while Michel Pereira (+110) has strung together eight straight victories. Neither guy has a ranked win in the UFC yet, so this is a massive opportunity for both.

Pereira’s move to 185 lbs has paid dividends, as he’s gone 3-0 with three first-round finishes. The bigger frame lets him keep his knockout power without killing himself to make weight. He’s a flashy, unorthodox striker boasting a stellar 94% takedown defense.

    29 Age 29
    12-2 (1 NC) Record 31-11 (2 NC)
    2 Current Win Streak 8
5 KO, 5 Sub Finish Method 11 KO, 9 Sub
    Wrestling Primary Strength Striking
    Excellent Cardio Improved at 185lbs
    [/matchup]

Hernandez’s bread and butter is his relentless wrestling, averaging a whopping seven takedowns per 15 minutes. The problem is he often struggles to keep guys down, which could spell trouble against a larger, stronger middleweight like Pereira. Standing, Pereira’s dynamic striking and footwork will make him a tough target for Hernandez’s shot attempts.

Despite the close odds, I’m leaning towards Pereira here. His combo of rock-solid takedown defense, newfound middleweight size, and proven finishing ability gives him more ways to win. Look for Pereira to stuff the takedowns and eventually land the fight-ending blow.

    • Prediction: Michel Pereira via KO/TKO

Kyler Phillips vs Rob Font Prediction

The co-main sees up-and-comer Kyler Phillips (-425) square off with veteran Rob Font (+330). Phillips’ well-rounded game, mixing high-volume striking with explosive wrestling, has netted him a 6-1 UFC record. Font’s the bigger name, but he’s dropped 4 of his last 5.

Font’s boxing is still crisp, especially that jab, but his chin is becoming a real question mark. He’s getting dropped way too often, and a young gun like Phillips has the tools to exploit that. Expect Phillips to push a crazy pace, mixing up his strikes with well-timed level changes.

Font’s as tough as they come, having never been finished, but Phillips’ power and output might be too much. I’m picking Phillips to get the late stoppage or run away with a clear decision in a fun scrap.

    • Prediction: Kyler Phillips via Decision

Daniel Pineda vs Darren Elkins Prediction

UFC iron man Darren Elkins (-102) takes on the all-action Daniel Pineda (-118) in what should be an absolute banger. Elkins is tough as nails but has a lot of miles on the odometer. Pineda’s a wild man early but tends to fade as the fight goes on.

Elkins’ willingness to eat shots and get into firefights plays right into Pineda’s wheelhouse. If Pineda doesn’t gas himself out swinging for the fences, his power and aggression should be too much for an aging Elkins to handle.

Given Elkins’ legendary durability, Pineda by decision at plus odds isn’t a bad play. But my gut says Pineda finds the finish and puts an end to Elkins’ improbable late-career resurgence.

    • Prediction: Daniel Pineda via KO/TKO

Nick Klein vs Heraldo Souza Prediction

Tuesday’s middleweight main event features two top prospects aiming to earn their place in the UFC.

Fighting out of Wisconsin, Klein has finished each of his last two opponents via rear naked choke. The 29-year-old American has racked up four finishes in his career, with two knockouts and two submission victories. He should be slightly bigger than his counterpart when they step in the cage on Tuesday night, but lacks the level of experience of the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, Souza is another in a long line of MMA fighters to hail from Curitiba, Brazil. He’s worked his way through the SFT ranks in his native Brazil, last knocking out Andre Fischer in April to win the middleweight title. He loves to finish his fights, with three knockouts and five submission victories so far in his career.

Souza is the smaller fighter, but he’s far more athletic. The Brazillian is also very creative with his attacks, and possesses the fast hands necessary to end this bout quickly. Back Heraldo Souza to win the Dana White’s Contender Series Week 10 main event.

    • DWCS Klein vs Souza Pick: Souza to win (-162)

Nick Piccininni vs Luis Gurule Prediction

If you watch Dana White’s Contender Series, you saw flyweight Nick Piccininni (7-0) defeat Jack Duffy in Week 3 via split decision. This fight was suppose to be a rematch of that bout, after White himself disagreed with the decision. However, Duffy is a late scratch with the undefeated Luis Gurule (9-0) in on short notice.

A Fortis MMA prospect, Piccininni has come up through the Xtreme Fight Night and Fury FC circuit. He’s an impressive wrestler who is still getting his bearings in the striking world, while usually eating a punch or two for his efforts.  The 27-year-old has taken out five of his opponents with submissions, finishing three straight bouts before his split decision victory over Duffy.

Ranked as the number two flyweight in North America, Gurule has made his name in LFA and Fury FC. Impressively, he finished five straight fights to begin his professional career. Gurule last took the cage just three weeks ago, where he destroyed Jacob Silva with an arm triangle choke at Fury FC 96.

While Gurule is a huge threat on the ground, expect Piccininni’s wrestling background to allow him to keep this fight standing. Look for Piccininni to earn a UFC contract with another decision victory.

    • DWCS Piccininni vs Gurule Pick: Nick Piccininni to win (-135)

    How to Watch

    • Main Card: 7pm ET on ESPN+
    • Prelims: 4pm ET on ESPN+

Tatsuro Taira vs Brandon Royval Prediction

22-year-old Tatsuro Taira (16-0) has been flawless in his MMA career, most recently crushing veteran Alex Perez in just two rounds. The Japanese grappling ace now faces his stiffest test in #1 contender Brandon “Raw Dawg” Royval (16-7).

Taira’s path to victory is clear – get this fight to the mat. His takedowns and submissions are next-level, and Royval’s meager 40% takedown defense plays right into his wheelhouse. If Taira gets top control, it’s likely game over for Raw Dawg.

I trust Taira’s grappling ability to be the difference-maker. He’s a special talent with finishing instincts, and Royval has wilted against lesser submission artists before. Taira may have to weather some early adversity, but expect him to find the takedown and latch onto a fight-ending choke.

Royval has a shot with his frenetic, high-volume striking. But I’m not betting on him consistently defending Taira’s explosive shots for five rounds. Expect an early submission from the undefeated grappling ace.

    • Pick: Tatsuro Taira via Submission (-110)

Co-Main Event: Jun Yong Park vs Brad Tavares Prediciton

Father Time is undefeated, and he may be catching up to 36-year-old Brad Tavares. The Hawaiian’s trademark durability has waned, suffering two brutal KO losses in his last three outings.

South Korea’s “Iron Turtle” Jun Yong Park brings relentless pressure and a deep gas tank. Park effortlessly blends striking and grappling to break opponents over 15 minutes. If he weathers Tavares’ early storm, it’s his fight to lose.

Park’s -180 moneyline is actually a bargain for a fighter this reliable. Bet on the younger, hungrier Park to outwork the fading Tavares wherever this fight goes. A late finish isn’t out of the question if Tavares fades down the stretch.

    • Pick: Jun Yong Park (-180)

Grant Dawson vs Rafa Garcia Prediction

You don’t need superpowers to predict how this lightweight tilt will go. Grant Dawson is an overwhelming -500 favorite for a reason – his wrestling is going to manhandle Rafa Garcia.

Dawson averages over three takedowns per 15 minutes and has vicious gnp to go with it. Garcia simply doesn’t have the defensive grappling chops to stop him. “KGD” will plant Garcia on the canvas and pound away until he nabs a submission.

There’s not much value on Dawson’s chunky moneyline, but a prop on Dawson to win Inside the Distance at -150 is well worth a bet. He’s a near-lock to ragdoll Garcia for a statement-making finish.

    • Pick: Grant Dawson wins Inside the Distance (-150)

Upset Prediction: Pat Sabatini (+110) vs Jonathan Pearce

If you’re looking for a live underdog, Pat Sabatini might your guy. The submission wizard is a handful on the mat for anyone at 145 lbs, including wrestling stalwart Jonathan Pearce.

Pearce’s grinding clinch game could play right into Sabatini’s crafty guard. All it takes is one slip-up on top from Pearce and Sabatini will pounce with a fight-ending sub.

At +110, Sabatini’s payout potential is too good to ignore. Throw some beer money on the underrated grappler to score the upset and pad your bankroll.

    • Pick: Pat Sabatini (+110)

Islem Masraf vs Artem Vakhitov Odds & Pick

Having started Glory kickboxing career way back in 2010, Artem Vakhitov is no spring chicken. However, the 33-year-old will bring far more fighting experience to the Dana White Contender Series Week 9 main event than his opponent. Islem Masraf has just five total fights throughout his amateur and pro career. While this will be Vakhitov’s 19th through kickboxing and MMA.

For those unfamiliar with Glory, its the kickboxing promotion where UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira (who just defended his title for the third time) plied his trade for years. Impressively, Vakhitov went 1-1 against Pereira in the Glory ring, losing a split decision at Glory 77 before defeating Pereira by majority decision in the rematch back in 2021.

He went 12-2 in the Glory ring, defending the title five times before losing and later regaining it against Pereira. That is the level of striker Islem Masraf will face on Tuesday night.

Now, Masraf is no slouch. His impressive ten-second victory over Mickael Groguhe at PFL Europe 1 shows just how dangerous the six-foot, 260-pound French fighter is. That being said, Vakhitov’s striking puts him on another level. Unfortunately, we don’t get knockout pricing here, but don’t expect this bout to hit the judges’ scorecards.

DWCS Masraf vs Vakhitov Pick: Artem Vakhitov (-560)

Kody Steele vs Chasen Blair Odds & Pick

Fighting out of Austin, Texas 29-year-old Kody Steele puts his undefeated record on the line at Dana White Contender Series Week 9. The Checkmat BJJ product has been active with five fights across the past two years. His pro career has been completely under the Fury banner, most recently knocking out Alejandro Martinez at Fury FC 89.

Steele is a man UFC executives will know well after he competed at their UFC Fight Pass grappling invitational in March.

On the other side of the cage, Chasen Blair enters on a three-fight winning streak. Fighting out of MMA Fight Academy in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Blair has finished each of his six wins. With four knockouts and two submission victories, he’ll aim to entertain and earn a UFC contract.

Blair should enter this bout ready to get after it, as he’s competed three times already this year. His last fight was just three weeks ago at Cage Warriors 177 on September 20.

While Blair has some intriguing skills and a height and reach advantage, we’ll go with the stronger, quicker fighter in Steele. He’s far more well-rounded and will finish this fight if given the opportunity.

DWCS Steele vs Blair Pick: Kody Steele to win (-238)

    • Main card: 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+ pay-per-view

Let’s break down these fights and see where the smart money’s at.

Alex Pereira vs Khalil Rountree Prediction

The main event features a striking battle between light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira (-470) and knockout artist Khalil Rountree Jr. (+360). Pereira has been dominant, finishing his last three title fights by KO. His versatility in the striking department is what stands out, as he can finish fights with punches, knees, elbows, or head kicks.

Rountree, meanwhile, is on a five-fight win streak with four knockouts, flexing his raw power. He’ll look to keep the fight standing and engage in a striking battle with Pereira.

    Alex Pereira
    VS
    Khalil Rountree Jr.
    6’4″ HEIGHT 6’1″
    204 lbs WEIGHT 204 lbs
    37 AGE 34
    79″ REACH 76.5″
    Orthodox STANCE Southpaw
    11-2 RECORD 13-5

However, I believe Pereira’s experience and composure will be the key deciding factors in this one. I forecast the champ to utilize leg kicks to set up his powerful right hand or left hook.

Interestingly, if anyone attempts a takedown in this fight, it might be Pereira, not Rountree. Despite both fighters being known for their striking, Pereira might surprise everyone by shooting for a takedown if he feels pressured by Rountree’s power.

While Rountree is arguably the most powerful striker Pereira has faced at light heavyweight, the champion’s knockout power and composure make him very hard to bet against. I predict he will get it done inside the distance on Saturday night.

    • Prediction: Alex Pereira wins by KO/TKO in Round 2

Raquel Pennington vs Julianna Peña Pick

The co-main event features a women’s bantamweight title fight between champion Raquel Pennington (-170) and former titleholder Julianna Peña (+142). Pennington is on a six-fight win streak, while Peña aims to reclaim the belt she lost to Amanda Nunes in 2022.

Peña’s aggressive style and strong ground game will pose problems for Pennington. However, the champion’s striking and takedown defense should help her keep the fight standing.

I think this one is going to go down to the wire, but Pennington’s consistency and cardio will prove to be the difference. There’s nice value on the champ to win this bout via decision.

    • Prediction: Raquel Pennington wins by decision

Jose Aldo vs Mario Bautista Prediction

Former featherweight champion Jose Aldo (+124) faces rising contender Mario Bautista (-148) in a bantamweight clash. At 38, Aldo has won four of his last five fights and remains a dangerous striker with excellent takedown defense.

Meanwhile, Bautista, 31, is on a six-fight win streak and brings a well-rounded skill set to the octagon. The Nevada native has a 60% implied chance to get the win here, although I’m not 100 percent sold on him being favored.

While Bautista’s wrestling could challenge Aldo, the Brazilian’s experience and striking ability give him the edge. If Aldo can keep the fight standing and utilize his legendary leg kicks, he has a great chance to secure the upset victory.

    • Prediction: Jose Aldo wins by decision

    UFC 307 Quick Picks

Stephen Thompson (+185) vs. Joaquin Buckley (-210):
Buckley’s wrestling and power give him the clear edge over the aging Thompson. Pick: Buckley via TKO (Round 2)

Roman Dolidze (+130) vs. Kevin Holland (-155):
Dolidze’s grappling and size advantage make him a live underdog against the inconsistent Holland. Pick: Dolidze via decision

Carla Esparza (+145) vs. Tecia Pennington (-175):
Pennington’s striking and cardio should help her overcome Esparza’s wrestling in the former champion’s retirement fight. Pick: Pennington via decision

Diyar Nurgozhay vs Bartosz Szewczyk Odds & Pick

Undefeated Kazahkstani prospect Diyar Nurgozhay enters the cage looking to keep his win streak alive against Polish bruiser Bartosz Szewczyk as the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series Week 8.

Nurgozhay has finished the fight in seven of his nine wins, with five coming by knockout. Impressively, each of those victories has come in the first round. The Kazakh likes to put his opponents away quickly.

Meanwhile, his opponent, Bartosz Szewczyk has finished each of his last three fights. He’s racked up six knockouts and a submission victory, while losing just twice so far in his career. He’s also the fourth ranked light heavyweight in all of Europe right now, according to Tapology’s regional MMA rankings.

While Nurgozhay is a dangerous opponent, Szewczyk possesses heavy hands and the speed need to devastate opponents with strong combinations. His 77.2″ reach will also provide an advantage in the main event of the evening. Additionally, the Polish knockout artist has stayed active over the past two years, fighting five times. Nurgozhay has only fought once in that time period. Back the underdog to come away with the win at plus money.

DWCS Nurgozhay vs Szewczyk Pick: Bartosz Szewczyk to win (+100)

Alberto Montes vs Carlos Calderon Odds & Pick

Alberto Montes takes on Carlos Calderon in an intriguing featherweight matchup. Montes (9-1) owns five submission victories, while Calderon (6-2) has three of his own.

This bout projects to be a classic grappler-versus-grappler matchup, with each man much more adept at fighting on the ground. We know a little more about Calderon, as he’s taken part in the Colorado regional circuit before choking out Kurtis Ellis at LFA 186 in June.

Not to be outdone, Venezuelan born Montes took out Kevin Garcia via anaconda choke in June. His head coach Asim Zaidi seems to be believe his opponent holds few paths to victory, pronouncing on Twitter that Calderon poses no major threat.

However, the 28-year-0ld Calderon trains out of Elevation Fight Team with the likes of UFC employees Neil Magny, Curtis Blaydes and Cory Sandhagen, among others. “Chief” is a creative submission artist himself, with a strong guillotine choke. He’s a live dog and can’t be discounted in this bout.

With Alberto Montes odds juiced to -270 for this Dana White Contenders Series Week 8 bout, back Calderon at +200.

DWCS Montes vs Calderon Pick: Carlos Calderon to win (+200)

Moicano vs Saint Dennis Odds & Prediction

This main event has Fight of the Night potential written all over it. In one corner, you have Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Renato Moicano. I’m not surprised to see him as the -290 favorite.

Moicano, boasts ten submission victories, including a recent win over Jalin Turner. He remains a constant ground threat, and a win here would propel him into the top 10.

But he faces a stiff test in French powerhouse Benoit Saint Dennis. “God of War” is riding a five-fight win streak, all by stoppage. With the fight taking place in Paris, Saint Dennis gets to showcase his skills in front of a hometown crowd.

The Frenchman is the definition of a physical force. He packs serious power in his strikes and has the grappling skills to neutralize Moicano’s submissions. If Dennis can defend the takedowns and let his hands go, it could be a short night.

I’m siding with the hometown guy here. His size, strength, and the added motivation of fighting at home give him the edge. Look for Benoit Saint Dennis to score a TKO victory in an absolute war.

    • Pick: Benoit Saint Dennis by KO/TKO (+120)

Imavov vs Allen Odds & Prediction

The co-main event is a true toss-up at middleweight between No. 4 ranked Nassourdine Imavov and No. 8 Brendan Allen.

Imavov is a lethal striker with excellent takedown defense. He’s coming off a controversial win over Jared Cannonier and is looking to solidify his place at the top of the division.

But Allen is no pushover. This guy has won seven in a row, with four of those coming by way of his signature rear-naked choke. His grappling could be the great equalizer here.

This fight likely comes down to where it takes place. If Allen can drag Imavov into his world and make it a grappling match, the upset is there for the taking. He’s a live dog at +170.

But Imavov’s defensive wrestling and striking advantage can’t be overlooked. I think he keeps it standing and outpoints Allen to take a close decision. It won’t be easy, but Imavov should get his hand raised.

    • Pick: Nassourdine Imavov by decision (+123)

Gomis vs Brito Odds & Prediction

Rising French featherweight William Gomis gets a tough test in Brazilian finisher Joanderson Brito. The UFC Paris odds price the Brazilian as a notable underdog, and I can’t argue it.

Gomis is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC with some sharp striking skills. But he’s never faced anyone with Brito’s power. This dude has finished his last five, all in the first two rounds.

It’s a classic striker vs. brawler matchup here. Gomis has the technique to potshot Brito from the outside and rack up points. But Brito only needs one clean look to end the night.

Brito’s relentless pressure and fight-ending power will be too much. Once he closes the distance and unloads, it’s lights out. Give me Joanderson Brito by 2nd round knockout.

    • Pick: Joanderson Brito by KO/TKO (+330)

    Other UFC Paris Best Bets

    Fares Ziam vs. Matt Frevola:

Battle of lightweights as technical striker Ziam meets gritty grappler Frevola. Frevola’s wrestling could steal rounds in a dog fight. The pick is Frevola via decision at +110.

Oumar Sy vs. Da Woon Jung:

Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Sy should destroy Jung. At 6’5″ with an 83″ reach, look for him to demolish the shopworn Jung early. The pick is Sy via submission in round 1 at -550.

    Nora Cornolle vs. Jacqueline Cavalcanti:

Cornolle has the home crowd on her side against short-notice replacement Cavalcanti. Riding an 8-fight win streak with 6 KOs, the pick is Cornolle at +180 in an upset.

Danylo Voievodkin vs Bailey Schoenfelder Odds & Pick

American Bailey Schoenfelder (5-0) enters the Dana White Contender Series Week 7 main event as the heavy favorite. He’s scored two wins in Bellator finishing both Kory Moegenburg and Mark Currier before most recently defeating Greg Velasco to win the CFFC heavyweight title at Cage Fury 131.

Meanwhile, Danylo Voievodkin (6-0) will aim to upset his heavily favored opponent. The 24-year-old Ukrainian has finished every fight in his young career, sporting five knockouts and a submission victory. Thus far in his career only one opponent has lasted longer than a minute in the cage with the native of Fastiv, Ukraine. We’ll see if Schoenfelder can change that.

At the end of the day, Schoenfelder is huge, he’s in incredible shape and has displayed his prowess against far more impressive competition. He sports a 76″ reach and will find a way to break down Voievodkin in this matchup. Expect Schoenfelder to finish this Dana White Contender Series Week 7 fight early.

    • DWCS Week 7 Pick: Bailey Schoenfelder to win (-720)

Daniel Funza vs Vadym Kutsyi Odds & Pick

Two experienced welterweights look to earn a UFC contract in DWCS Week 7. Daniel Frunza (8-2) and Vadym Kutsyi (17-1) each enter this bout coming off of impressive win streaks. Frunza has won four straight bouts by knockout including two spectacular finishes in the Legacy Fighting Alliance.

The Romanian is particularly aggressive in his bouts, closing distances with reckless abandon and cutting off opponents’ escape routes. He sports powerful hands and dangerous combos with the ability to finish fights in a hurry. His seven career knockouts point towards his relentless aggression. He hasn’t lost a bout since 2021, and his only real weakness is lethal submission artists.

On the other side of the cage, Kutsyi enters this bout on his own impressive 10-fight win streak. According to Tapology, the 33-year-old Belarussian is the 125th ranked welterweight in Europe and has finished five of his last six fights. He’s also by far the more experienced fighter. However, he hasn’t stepped in the cage since December of 2022, and will have to dust off the cobwebs.

Expect Kutsyi to show some rust in his first fight in nearly 24 months. Bet on the far more active, aggressive Funza to win this one by knockout.

    • DWCS Week 7 Pick: Daniel Frunza to win (+185)

Dylan Mantello vs Ahmad Hassanzada Odds & Pick

Dana White Contender Series veterans Dylan Mantello and Ahmad Hassanzada will be aiming to bounce back from losses on last year’s show when they step into the cage on Tuesday night. Mantello lost to Kaynan Kruschewsky last season, while Hassanzada was knocked out by Nazim Sadykhov.

Back the underdog Mantello’s striking prowess to come to the fore in this bout. The former Ring of Combat lightweight champion always stays active, and his deceptive power often surprises opponents. The Longo and Weidman MMA product also carries a strong submission game in his arsenal, making him a threat from anywhere inside the cage.  We’re betting his aggressive, accurate hands lead to his hand being raised at the end of this bout.

Hassanzada has a tendency to take a ton of damage in his fights, and has been dropped to the canvas in nearly all of his fights. He’s a classic grappler with poor striking skills who is too easily fooled by opponents’ feights and combinations.

Take the underdog Mantello at +140 and be sure to visit our best UFC betting sites to find the best price on each Dana White’s Contender Series scrap.

    • Pick: Dylan Mantello to win (+140)

Aaron Tau vs Elijah Smith Odds & Pick

XFC bantamweight Aaron Tau takes on Colorado’s Elijah Smith hoping to gain Dana White’s favor at the UFC Apex.

An undefeated striker from Auckland, New Zealand, Tau has dominated in the XFC. Over the past five years, he’s won seven straight fights in the promotion, while finishing six of those contests. He loves to push the pace and aggressively corner his opponents’ while unloading his power-packed fists.

In the other corner, Smith will use his significant height and reach advantage to attack his opponents. He most recently defeated Josh Walker at Fury 92 in June, and has just one loss in his burgeoning MMA career.

A product of Team Victory, Smith is stepping in to take this fight on short notice. However, he’s the far more naturally athletic fighter, with fast hands. Smith will get the better of most exchanges when these two are standing, so expect to Tau try to shoot early in this one.

Tau is an intriguing, undefeated prospect. At the same time, Smith holds the edge in nearly every category heading into Dana White’s Contender Series Week 6. He’s a much better kickboxer, he’s faster, and possesses far cleaner footwork and striking defense. Back Smith to get the job done on Tuesday night.

    • Pick: Elijah Smith to win (-188)

Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili Prediction

The main event features a classic striker vs. grappler matchup, with champion Sean O’Malley (-130) taking on Merab Dvalishvili (+110). O’Malley’s striking is a thing of beauty, boasting a 77% striking defense and landing 7.63 significant strikes per minute.

However, Dvalishvili’s wrestling is on another level, averaging 7.30 takedowns per 15 minutes and dominating some of the best in the business. The 33-year-old’s elite grappling hjas led him to victories over the likes of Jose Aldo and Henry Cejudo.

For O’Malley to retain his title, he needs to keep this fight standing and make Dvalishvili pay for every takedown attempt. If he can do that, he has a clear path to victory. But if Dvalishvili can consistently get him to the ground, it could be a long night for the champ.

It’s a close one, but the value might be with the underdog Dvalishvili at +110. His grappling and cardio are relentless, and he could wear O’Malley down over five rounds. However, don’t sleep on O’Malley’s striking and takedown defense. This one could easily come down to the judges.

    Picks:

    • Merab Dvalishvili ML (+110)
    • Over 4.5 Rounds (-130)

Alexa Grasso vs Valentina Shevchenko Prediction

The co-main event sees Alexa Grasso (-135) battle Valentina Shevchenko (+114) for the flyweight title. Their first fight saw Grasso submitting Shevchenko, while the rematch ended in a controversial split draw. Now, they meet for the third time.

Shevchenko, an absolute legend, is undoubtedly gunning to get her title back. Her striking and takedowns are always on point, and her experience in big fights is second to none. However, Grasso has proven to be Shevchenko’s kryptonite, outstriking her in their last two meetings and showing improved takedown defense.

If Grasso can keep this fight standing and push the pace, she could outpoint Shevchenko over five rounds. Oddsmakers clearly think she’ll be able to keep the fight off the mat, giving the 31-year-old Mexican

With the rivalry tied at 1-0-1, this trilogy bout could be the most closely contested yet. Both women have the tools to win, but Grasso’s momentum and stylistic advantages make her my slight lean. Expect another technical, back-and-forth affair that goes the distance.

    Picks:

    • Alexa Grasso ML (-135)
    • Fight Goes the Distance (-200)

    UFC 306 Quick Picks

In addition to my picks for the two main events, I’ve identified a couple of other UFC 306 best bets for Saturday night.

Brian Ortega (+150) vs Diego Lopes

This featherweight scrap between two high-level grapplers is intriguing. Lopes has been on a roll and may have the edge in striking. But Ortega’s jiu-jitsu is no joke, and he’s got heart for days. Lopes is the favorite, but I like the value on Ortega to pull off the upset.

Daniel Zellhuber (-230) vs Esteban Ribovics

Keep an eye on this lightweight clash between two up-and-comers. Zellhuber’s length and reach could be a problem for the hard-hitting Ribovics. The smart money is on Zellhuber getting the job done.

Raul Rosas Jr. (-850) vs Aori Qileng

At just 19 years old, Raul Rosas Jr. is a phenom. Sure, Qileng is no pushover, but Rosas Jr.’s grappling should be too much for him. Expect a submission win for the young gun.

Navajo Stirling vs Phillip Latu Odds & Pick

All six of 33-year-old Phillip Latu’s wins have come via knockout prior to Dana White’s Contender Series Week 5 bout with Navajo Sterling. The Elevation Fight Team product has won each of his past four fights, with his only career loss coming via submission.

On the other side of the cage,  26-year-old Navajo Stirling (4-0) has seven years of youth on his opponent on Tuesday night.  The 6’4 Auckland, New Zealand native is an absolute monster in the cage. He’s won three of his four contests by knockout and decimates opponents with his gargantuan 82.7-inch reach. Stirling defeated Sam Kei in June to win the Hex MMA Light Heavyweight championship.

Latu is a game opponent, and training with the likes of Curtis Blaydes and Cory Sandhagen in Denver, Colorado has helped him hone his skills. However, he’s being fed to the wolves here. Stirling is a much larger, ascending prospect, and has far more routes to victory than Latu.

The American, Latu is a powerful striker, but he lacks the creativity of his Kiwi opponent. Lay your wager on Stirling to end this fight quickly.  With the New Zealand native being such a heavy favorite, be sure to check out our best UFC betting sites for the very best price.

    • Pick: Navajo Stirling to win (-298)

Quemel Ottoni vs Kody Steele Odds & Pick

Also on the docket for Dana White’s Contender Series Week 5 is an intriguing welterweight fight between Quemel Ottoni (12-3) and Kody Steele (6-0).

Fighting out of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ottoni has racked up three submission victories thus far in his career. He’s on a five-fight winning streak, but last competed all the way back in May of 2022.

Meanwhile, Kody Steele is an undefeated American prospect fighting out of Austin, Texas. The 29-year-old has been far more active, most recently knocking out Alejandro Martinez at Fury FC 89 in April.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is on a three-fight knockout streak and looks lethal in the cage. He competed at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational grappling event earlier this year and looks ready to sign that UFC contract. Back Steele to earn Uncle Dana’s love on Tuesday night.

    • Pick: Kody Steele to win (-225)

Quillan Salkilld vs Gauge Young Prediction

Eternal MMA standout Quillan Salkilld (6-1) brings a versatile, aggressive style as he looks to extend his six-fight win streak. The 6-foot Aussie has a rangy striking arsenal, a strong clinch game, and slick submissions. His lone loss came in his 2021 pro debut.

Gauge Young (8-1) is a powerful American wrestler training out of Ignite Jiu-Jitsu & MMA. Seven of his eight wins have come by stoppage. His forward pressure and ability to dominate from top position pose intriguing challenges for Salkilld.

While Young’s wrestling could neutralize Salkilld early, the Australian’s more well-rounded game gives him more paths to victory the longer the fight goes. He’ll punish Young at range before dragging him into deep waters.

    • Pick: Quillan Salkilld by submission (+310)

Shannon Clark vs Yuneisy Duben Picks

Canada’s Shannon Clark (5-0) looks like a can’t-miss prospect at flyweight. The newly-crowned LFA champ is a ferocious pressure fighter with dynamite in her hands and a smothering grappling attack. All five of her wins have come inside the distance.

Venezuela’s Yuneisy Duben (4-0) is a mystery. Her four wins have all come against 0-0 opponents, and she’s been out of action since 2019 before returning earlier this year. Her striking looked powerful in her comeback win, but Clark is a massive step up.

Unless Duben is a hidden gem, Clark should steamroll through her. “The Irish Storm” is bigger, stronger, more experienced, and more skilled everywhere. Bank on a dominant Clark victory.

    • Pick: Shannon Clark by TKO (-250)

Austin Bashi vs Dorian Ramos Prediction

At just 22 years old, Austin Bashi (12-0) might be the best prospect on this season of DWCS. The Michigan native is a BJJ prodigy who just won No-Gi Worlds at brown belt. He couples that with high school wrestling credentials and rapidly evolving striking.

Journeyman Dorian Ramos (8-2) steps in on less than a week’s notice to face Bashi after Tommy McMillen withdrew due to injury. He’s a solid grappler himself, but taking this fight on short notice against a phenom like Bashi seems like a thankless task.

Bashi is going to be a problem at 145 pounds with his combination of silky-smooth jiu-jitsu and power wrestling. Look for him to make quick work of Ramos and secure his spot on the UFC roster.

    • Pick: Austin Bashi by submission (-125)

Will Currie vs Djorden Santos Best Bet

England’s Will Currie (12-3) is a proven finisher training out of the venerable Combat Base UK gym. The lanky southpaw has an unorthodox karate-based striking attack and serious grappling chops. Eight of his 12 wins have come by stoppage.

Brazil’s Djorden Santos (9-1) is a bit of a wild card. He’s finished seven of his nine wins, but his level of competition pales in comparison to what Currie’s faced in Cage Warriors. He has legit size for the weight class, though.

While Santos’ reach advantage could make things tricky for Currie on the feet, the Englishman is the far superior athlete and technician. He’ll drag this to the mat and dominate positionally if Santos gives him any trouble standing.

    • Pick: Will Currie by submission (+140)

Igor Cavalcanti vs Seokhyeon Ko Prediction

Brazil’s Igor Cavalcanti (9-0) has been an absolute wrecking machine on the regional scene, with all nine wins coming by first-round stoppage. His striking is explosive, and he’s an IBJJF medalist on the mats. However, he’s also extremely untested, as none of his opponents have had a record better than two fights over .500.

South Korea’s Seokhyeon Ko (10-2) has a more proven body of work, albeit against slightly higher-level competition. He won a Sanda world title in 2021 before embarking on his current three-fight knockout streak. However, Ko’s two losses have both come inside two minutes.

Neither man has seen the second round as a pro, and there’s a good chance that continues. Cavalcanti is the more hyped prospect, but there are still big questions surrounding his ceiling. Don’t be surprised if Ko can crack the Brazilian’s chin early.

    • Pick: Seokhyeon Ko by KO/TKO (+450)

Andrey Pulyaev vs Liam Anderson Prediction

The main event features a middleweight clash between Andrey Pulyaev (+185) and Liam Anderson (-225). Pulyaev, from Shlemenko FC, has won his last four fights, mostly by stoppage. His well-rounded skills and finishing ability make him a dangerous opponent.

Interestingly, the odds have shifted since the opening lines, with Anderson moving from a heavy underdog to a heavy favorite. This shift in betting odds can be attributed to the growing hype around Anderson’s lethal striking, as exemplified in the clip below.

Anderson, from CFFC, has also won his last four bouts, showcasing his striking in LFA and BTC. However, his defensive vulnerabilities have been exposed recently, which could cause issues against a finisher like Pulyaev.

Pulyaev’s background in Shlemenko FC makes it tough to gauge his true skill level, but his power and cardio could overpower Anderson’s leaky defense. Don’t sleep on Pulyaev – he has the tools to exploit Anderson’s weaknesses and score the upset.

    • Pick: Andrey Pulyaev ML (+185)

Michael Aswell vs Bogdan Grad Picks

Michael Aswell (-112) faces Bogdan Grad (-108) in a pick ’em featherweight fight. Aswell, a promising Fury FC prospect, is 9-1 with his only loss to the undefeated Yadier DelValle.

Grad suffered a KO loss on DWCS last year but bounced back with two finishes in Cage FS. His tendency to accept bad positions and counter could play into Aswell’s forward pressure and high-volume striking.

If it goes to the judges, I expect Aswell’s active striking to be the difference. Look for Aswell to outwork Grad and secure a decision win.

    • Pick: Michael Aswell to win by decision

Marco Tulio Silva vs. Matthieu Letho Duclos Pick

Marco Tulio Silva (-485) returns to DWCS after a dominant but unsuccessful appearance last season. Since then, he scored an impressive KO in LFA, proving he’s made adjustments to finish fights.

Matthieu Letho Duclos (+370) is 6-2 but hasn’t faced Silva’s level of competition. Silva’s well-rounded skills, elite striking, and solid cardio make him a well-deserved heavy favorite in the DWCS odds for Season 3.

Duclos is taking a major step up, and his most recent win due to an eye injury has me worried about his ability to handle a full fight against Silva. He’s the heavy underdog on this card for good reason.

I’m predicting Silva to make a statement with a KO in approximately the second round on Tuesday night. Considering Silva’s short moneyline, the best value for this bet Is Silva by KO in Round 2.

    • Pick: Marco Tulio Silva to win by 2nd round KO

Malcolm Wellmaker vs Adam Bramhald Best Bet

Malcolm Wellmaker (-290) takes on Adam Bramhald (+235) at bantamweight, with both combatants having holes in their games.

Bramhald’s wins are against lesser competition, making me unsure about his true abilities. “Samurais” Muay Thai and leg kicks are his best weapons, but his clinch work is lacking.

Wellmaker has amateur experience and decent striking but struggles in the clinch. His seven pro fights have been against inexperienced or subpar opponents.

Bramhald’s 11-fight win streak and Muay Thai could trouble Wellmaker if he can’t finish quickly. But with many unknowns, I recommend avoiding betting on this one.

    • Pick: Pass on betting this fight

Jack Duffy vs Nick Piccininni Prediction

The card opens with Jack Duffy (+320) vs. Nick Piccininni (-410) at flyweight. Duffy’s background in Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat league raises flags for me about his opponent quality. His striking ability is questionable, and a two-year layoff adds uncertainty.

Piccininni, also undefeated, has the edge on the mat and feet. His wrestling pedigree as a four-time Big 12 champion and submission skills (five of six wins by tapout) give him a strong base. His confidence suggests he’s not worried about Duffy.

I’m banking on Piccininni to make quick work of “The Fury” and score a first-round knockout. This is another bout on this card where you will need to dive into the props mark to find value.

    • Prediction: Nick Piccininni to win by 1st round KO

  • UFC Vegas 96 goes down this Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The prelims kick off at 7pm ET on ESPN, with the main card following at 10pm ET on ESPN+.

In the main event, top middleweight contenders collide as #5 ranked Jared Cannonier takes on surging #12 Caio Borralho. The co-main spotlights a pivotal strawweight clash between #9 Angela Hill and #11 Tabatha Ricci.

Let’s break down the key matchups and best bets for this Fight Night card. All odds referenced are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

UFC Vegas 96 Odds – Main Card

    Fighter Odds Over/Under Rounds
    Edmen Shahbazyan -345 O 1.5 +110

    Tabatha Ricci -135 U 2.5 +390
    Fighter Odds Over/Under Rounds
    Jared Cannonier +210 O 4.5 -110
    Caio Borralho -258 U 4.5 -120

The biggest favorite on the UFC Vegas 96 main card is Michael Morales at -900 over Neil Magny (+600). Those odds imply Morales has a 90% chance of winning the fight, while Magny has just a 14.29% probability of pulling off the upset.

The tightest odds on the main card are for the Hill vs Ricci co-headliner. Ricci is a slight -135 favorite, giving her a 57.45% implied chance of victory. Hill comes back at +114, equating to a 46.73% win probability.

    Cannonier vs Borralho Prediction

Middleweight gatekeeper Jared Cannonier (#5) welcomes his stiffest test in years against surging prospect Caio Borralho (#12). The UFC Vegas 96 odds price the Texas native as a notable +210 underdog in this bout.

At 40 years old and on a quick turnaround from a TKO loss in June, I have doubts about Cannonier’s ability to hang with the younger, hungrier Brazilian over five rounds.

    Jared Cannonier
    VS
    Caio Borralho
    40 Age 31
    17-7 Record 16-1 (1 NC)
    5’11” Height 6’1″
    77″ Reach 75″
4.62 Strikes Landed Per Min 2.91
    61% Takedown Defense 76%
    KO Power Best Weapon Grappling
    #5 UFC Middleweight Rank #12

Sure, Cannonier has ridiculous KO power and Borralho hasn’t faced a striker of this caliber yet. But “The Natural” has an insane motor, technical striking of his own, and a suffocating top game.

Borralho may eat a few shots early, but look for him to weather the storm, dominate grappling exchanges, and pour it on late for a statement win. Don’t be shocked if he taps out a fading Cannonier down the stretch.

The value is too good to pass up here. I’m predicting Borralho gets it done via submission and announces himself as a serious title threat at 185lbs.

    Cannonier vs Borralho Pick:

    • Caio Borralho via Submission (+300)

    Hill vs Ricci Prediction

Angela Hill returns for her 25th UFC bout, tying Jessica Andrade for most appearances by a female fighter. She’ll need every bit of that experience against Brazilian submission threat Tabatha Ricci.

While Ricci has outstanding BJJ and lives to grapple, I don’t see her taking down Hill consistently or controlling her on the mat. Hill’s 76% takedown defense is legit and she’s a master at winning grueling decisions.

I’m banking on “Overkill” to do what she does best – push the pace on the feet, mix in her own grappling, and outwork Ricci down the stretch. It won’t be a cakewalk, but Hill is battle-tested in this exact type of matchup.

    Hill vs Ricci Pick:

    • Angela Hill ML (+114)

Quick Hits: Other UFC Vegas Bets to Consider

Aside from the top two fights, there’s still plenty of betting value to be found on this card. Here are some of my other favorite plays for UFC Fight Night this Saturday:

Morales vs Magny Over 2.5 Rounds (-180)

Michael Morales is a monster prospect, but laying -900 on the moneyline is just silly. I actually don’t hate Neil Magny at +600 for a huge upset, but the safer play is over 2.5 rounds at -180.

Dennis Buzukja (+130) vs Francis Marshall

If you’re looking for a slobberknocker, look no further than Dennis Buzukja vs Francis Marshall at lightweight. I slightly favor Buzukja as a +130 underdog, thanks to his slick striking and training at Xtreme Couture.

Cong Wang To Win By KO/TKO/DQ (-110) vs Leonardo

Undefeated Wang Cong makes her UFC debut against Victoria Leonardo in a gross mismatch. Bet on Kong via KO/TKO at -110, as Leonardo has major defensive flaws and likely can’t hang at this level.
