This odds tracker monitored each of the 31 NHL teams’ odds to win their conference for the 2019-20 NHL season. The graphs and tables are divided along East/West lines.

Sep. 17: TB sealed the deal in Game 6, winning in OT.

Sep. 15: Up 3-1, the Lightning are prohibitively short -3000 favorites to oust NYI.

Sep. 8: An 8-2 rout in Game 1 has sent TB’s odds soaring to -500. NYI has faded to +375.

Sep. 6: TB is a -195 favorite to win the East. Conf. finals over the NY Islanders (+160).

Sep. 1: Anticipating a TB vs NYI final, sportsbooks have established the Lightning as -176 favorites, with the Islanders at +170.

Aug. 28: Up 2-1 on Boston, Tampa Bay is now a +132 favorite. Second is Philadelphia, back at +319.

Aug. 21: Despite facing each other in round two, the Lightning (+192) and Bruins (+234) both have better odds than the Flyers (+281) and Islanders (+414).

Aug. 10: With the first round set, the now-top-seeded Philadelphia Flyers are the East favorites at +281 after sweeping through their three seeding games.

July 15:  Bettors are penciling Pittsburgh into the round of 16, it seems. The Penguins odds improved from +816 to +810 while Montreal’s fell from +3740 to +4200.

July 3: The Rangers (+2480) overtook intra-city rivals NYI (+2530) and are now in the top-eight Eastern Conference favorites, despite being underdogs in their qualification series with Carolina (+2300).

June 12: Even though Philadelphia (+592) and Washington (+663) have byes to the Round of 16, their odds are much longer than Boston (+345) and Tampa Bay (+328).

May 20: The long layoff is seen as a negative for teams that were hottest before the pause; in the East, the Flyers dropped from +500 to +550.

Mar. 19: After COVID-19 imposed an extended hiatus on the season, the Bruins’ futures odds improved to +325. Oddsmakers believe a rested Boston team will be in a class of its own.

Feb. 13: The Sabres are the biggest losers over the last couple weeks with a playoff spot now a pipe-dream. Their odds tumbled from +3767 to +6833.

Jan. 28: The Panthers (+1133) still lag behind the Leafs (+967) despite holding third-place in the Atlantic. Both are well behind the top four of TB, WAS, BOS, and PIT.

Jan. 22:  The Lightning (+450) have taken over top spot, despite sitting eight points back of Boston in the Atlantic. The Caps (+456) fell slightly as Pittsburgh (+600) continues to push.

Jan. 9: The Capitals are now the favorites at +429, while Tampa (+458) had edged Boston (+461) for second.

Nov. 27: The Islanders (+640) continue to surge, despite their point-streak ending in Anaheim on Monday.

Nov. 13: The Bruins have taken over top spot (+480), while the Islanders (+870) are now in the top-four.

Oct. 29: The Lightning (+420) are still favored, but not by much with the Bruins (+460) closing fast.

Oct. 7: A week into the regular season and the East favorites have both gotten shorter. Tampa only improved slightly (from +350 to +340) while Toronto leapt from +510 to +420 and Boston made similar gains, from +550 to +500.

Aug. 27: All the longshots got a little shorter in the East. Columbus went from +3600 to +3400, Detroit went from +6500 to +6200, and even Ottawa went from +12700 to +12000.

Aug. 9: The Blue Jackets plummeted from +2000 to +3600, while the Maple Leafs (+590 to +530) overtook Boston (+520 to +550) for second-best odds.

July 16: Despite flaming out in the first round of the playoffs last year, the powerhouse Lightning open as the East favorites by a pretty wide margin.

Sep. 15: Dallas did what no one thought they could do last night, vanquish the heavily favored Golden Knights in just five games.

Sep. 14: On the morning of Game 5, Dallas is a -360 favorite to turn its 3-1 series lead into a Stanley Cup finals berth.

Sep. 9: VGK and DAL are even at one game apiece in their best-of-seven series, but oddsmakers beg to differ. Vegas is -257 to advance; Dallas is +210.

Sep. 8: VGK is still favored by a narrow -125 to +105 margin despite losing Game 1 .

Sep. 6: VGK opened as a -225 favorite over the Stars in the WC finals, the third straight series they have opened at -200 or shorter.

Sep. 1: Holding a 3-1 lead on the Canucks, VGK is being penciled into the finals and is a massive -167 favorite to win the West.

Aug. 28: Still down 2-1 to Dallas after a Game 3 win, the Avalanche are an optimistic +331 to win the West, which is more than twice as short as the Canucks (+740), who sit tied at 1-1 with Vegas.

Aug. 21: VGK  (+131) and COL (+168) remain heavy favorites, facing VAN (+700) and DAL (+554), respectively, in round two.

Aug. 10: VGK just beat out COL for the #1 seed in the West, and they are narrowly ahead of the Avs at the top of the conference futures, as well (+246 vs +268).

July 15: No team has seen its odds get longer than the Blackhawks. Chicago fell from +2350 to +3500 in the Western Conference futures over the last two weeks.

July 3: Despite being announced as a “hub city”, the Edmonton Oilers’ odds dropped from +1092 to +1120.

June 12: Dallas’ odds (+767) are considerably longer than the other top-four seeds: Vegas (+340), Colorado (+360), and St Louis (+433).

May 20: The realization that the playoffs will likely be fan-less has lead to VGK’s odds dropping (+325 to +378). Bettors seem to think Vegas will lose much of its potent home-ice advantage in an empty stadium.

Mar. 19: The Golden Knights (+325) have become Western Conference favorites during the coronavirus hiatus.

Feb. 13: The top-three favorites are all from the Central (Avalanche, Blues, Stars) as no team in the Pacific even looks like a lock to make the playoffs.

Jan. 28: Preseason favorite Vegas continues to plummet, now at a season-long +745. That’s still best in the Pacific, but behind three Central teams (COL, STL, DAL).

Jan. 22:  The Western Conference odds are tightly packed with ten teams between +481 and +1400. Only the Ducks, Jets, Kings, Sharks, and Wild are considered true longshots.

Jan. 9: The Avalanche are favored to win the West, despite the Blues being shorter than even-money to win the Central Division.

Nov. 27: 8-1-1 in their last ten, the Dallas Stars are now third in the odds to win the West at +670.

Nov. 13: The favorites are falling back to the pack. No team is shorter than Vegas at +470. The West is wide open.

Oct. 29: It’s neck and neck at the top between Vegas (+370) and Colorado (+390). But expect the Avs to get longer now that Mikko Rantanen and Gabe Landeskog are both out.

Oct. 7: The first in-season update really shook up the Western Conference odds. Vegas is now a hyper-short +350 (formerly +420). The biggest loser was San Jose (+970 to +1300).

Aug. 27: The Canucks (+1900) bounced the Coyotes (+2000) from the top ten.

Aug. 9: The biggest loser in the last update was the Oilers, who fell from +1700 to +2500. Only the Kings (+6600), Ducks (+5000), and Wild (+3000) have worse odds to win the West.

July 16: Vegas is the early favorite at +470. Advanced statistics show this team was dominant 5-on-5 after acquiring Mark Stone last year.
