Editor’s Note (Jan 6): Due to the reformation of the divisions and shortened 56-game regular-season because of COVID-19, there will be no conference structure for the 2020-21 NHL season. The league has been split into four divisions (North, East, Central West) with the top four teams from each division advancing to the playoffs.Â
2021 Eastern Conference Champion Odds
- [Nov 12]: With a start date uncertain, the odds have not altered much in the East. However, the Lightning have seen their average odds increase from +383 to +400
- [Oct 15]: After signing Taylor Hall and other notable pieces, the Sabres’ averaged odds have shortened from +3750 to +2700
- [Oct 7]: Following the 2020 NHL Draft, the Rangers’ average odds have shortened to +1250
- [Sept 29]: The Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning have opened as 4-1 favorites to win the East in the 2020/21 season, followed by Boston at +550

- [Nov 12]: Like the Eastern Conference, there has not been too much odds movement. The most notable movement would be the Dallas Stars’ average odds shortening to +917, tying the St. Louis Blues
- [Oct 15]: After signing defenseman Alex Pietrangelo, the Golden Knights are now co-favorites to win the Western Conference with the Avalanche
- [Oct 7]: No odds movement to report, as no Western Conference teams were very active in the 2020 NHL Draft
