Men’s Singles Top Contenders

• [Jan 28] We’re down to the final two: #3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas (+370) against favorite Novak Djokovic (-475) for the Australian Open title.
• [Jan 25] With only four players remaining, Djokovic is a huge favorite at -450 odds, as Tsitsipas, even at second on the board is listed at +425. Khachanov and Paul make up the remaining semifinalists at +2000 and +3500 odds respectively

• [Jul 21] Djokovic is currently favored slightly at +150 odds over second favorite Medvedev at +275

Nadal broke Djokovic’s run of three-straight wins in Australia in 2022. Nadal defeated Medvedev 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 to win the 2022 Aussie Open title. The first time he has won in Australia since 2009 when he beat Federer.

Nadal is the only Spaniard to ever win in Australia giving Spain two titles as a nation.

Australia leads the way with nine. Followed by Serbia with nine, all of which have come from Djokovic who’s owned this competition over the past decade-plus.

Women’s Singles Top Contenders

• [Jan 26] Sabalenka enters the Women’s Singles Final as the slight favorite at -130 odds over Rybakina at +110
• [Jan 25] It’s a close battle atop the oddsboard between Sabalenka and Rybakina at +100 and +160 in the Australian Open odds. Further down the semifinalists are Azarenka at +450 and Linette at +1300
• [Jan 23] With Swiatek knocked out of the Aussie Open, Sabalenka is now the top favorite heading into the quarterfinals at +210 odds
• [Jan 19] Pegula and Garcia have shortened to under 10-1 odds to make up the top four favorites alongside Swiatek and Sabalenka
• [Jan 12] Sabalenka has emerged as the clear second-choice behind Swiatek after the Aussie Open Draw, not listed at +750 odds
• [Dec 30] As the calendar prepares to turn to 2023 and the Aussie Open is just weeks away, Swiatek is a huge favorite to win the title at +175 odds. While that may not be odds-on, the next most-favored players have odds of 12-1 (Jabeur, Garcia and Sabalenka)

Odds for Past Women’s Singles Winners

Hometown favorite Ashleigh Barty won the Australian Open in 2022 by defeating American Danielle Collins 6-3, 7-6. Barty went on to retire from tennis soon after winning the title.

Past Women’s Champions

Unlike on the men’s side, it’s often a new face winning each year in Australia. There have been six different winners the past seven years. Only Osaka has won twice in that span.

AO Women’s Champions by Country

Barty became the first Australian to win the Aussie Open since Chris O’Neil, who won it all in 1978. This, despite Australia owning the most overall titles with 44. Naomi Osaka is the only Japanese player on either the men’s or women’s tours to win the Aussie Open.
