The 2020 US Open begins Monday, August 31st, and will be played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. We’ve been tracking the odds of every player involved leading up to the event, and have charted them below in a series of easy-to-follow graphs. Each graph has been generated by averaging the odds from multiple sportsbooks to give you a better sense of each player’s true chance of winning the 2020 US Open.
2020 US Open Men’s Singles Top Contenders
- [9/12/20] After taking out Medvedev in straight sets, Dominic Thiem is now a huge -400 favorite to win the US Open over Alexander Zverev
- [9/10/20] Into the semifinals, Medvedev is a slight average favorite over Thiem, however, some books have them both at equal +140 odds
- [9/8/20] Once +9333 odds way back in January and +6600 in September, Alex De Minaur is now just +1733 to win the US Open now into the quarterfinals
- [9/7/20] Daniil Medvedev is the new favorite with Novak Djokovic disqualified during his Round of 16 match
- [9/4/20] Into the third round, odds keep shortening on Djokovic, from -113 Aug 25 to -150 now

US Open Odds for ATP Top 5 Men’s Singles Players
The 2019 final saw Nadal defeat Daniil Medvedev by a score of 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4. It was the first time reaching the finals in a major for Medvedev.

Though Medvedev came up short in the US Open Final, it was still a banner year for the Russian, winning four singles titles in 2019, after he had previously won three in 2018.

Despite ranking outside of the top five, 2019 US Open Cup winner Bianca Andreescu started 2020 at the second-favorite at odds of +700 after her incredible year in 2019.

Odds for Past US Open Women’s Champions
It was only 2017 when American Sloane Stephens won the tournament, but after a less than impressive 2019 and beginning the year ranked 24th, her odds are 22-1.

Serena Williams was completely unbeatable at the US Open from 2012 to 2014, but has come up short ever since. Last year despite a 25-6 singles record and reaching the finals of the US Open, she failed to win a tournament throughout the season.

It should come as no surprise that Americans have dominated the US Open since the very beginning, winning 26 of the first 28 championships. 2019’s champion Andreescu, was the first Canadian to not only win the US Open, but also to win a Grand Slam event.
